Mustang III wheel wells color

Hi,

I'm looking for the color of the wheel wells of mustang III , grey, YZC, interior green ?

Same question for the doors of the main gear.

For what it is worth ... I remember a colour photo of either Mustang III or P-51B/C's wheel wells which had YZC walls and stringers in the same colour. The top of the wells, actually the bottom side of the wing skin was in metal colour so it was either left unpainted, painted silver or covered with protective varnish. Unfortunately I cannot remember where did I see the photo. Regards

Only the spar, which is visible at the rear of the well, was normally in Zinc chromate.

I didn't say because I wasn't certain, but natural metal/Aluminium paint rather than green. There may also have been some variation... Jure talks of stringers in YZC and I can't say that never happened.

No, 99% certain, natural metal, spar YZC. according to Dana bell, North American got permission to discontinue corrosion treatment. Only the spar would be primed to prevent corrosion caused by contact between dissimilar metals. Again, from an old post of Dana Bell's on Hyperscale.
