Electromagnetic Rail Guns being tested by the Pentagon

Aircraft are really my thing but I came across this article in the Wall Street Journal that I thought might be of interest.

The Pentagon/USN has been testing an electromagnetic gun that uses 25MW of power to fire a projectile and, owing to the need for such power, its use is likely to be ship based rather than land based, at least in the shorter term.

Most WSJ articles are locked to subscribers but this one was open access.
