Couple of questions on the Hobbyboss 1/72 Karl mortar

While I'm an aircraft modeller, I've built a few 1/72 scale tanks over the years and I've got the option of buying a Hobbyboss Karl mortar at a very good price. Does anybody have experience with this kit ? Is it a good one ? The reviews I've found online seem to be positive.

Should I get convinced in buying this kit, I'd like to add a small base to the model and I feel that for this it would be good to have a few figures. Is there any figures set that would be recommended to go with the kit ? I've seen a few boxes of artillery crews in this scale but they all seem to represent gunners operating much smaller pieces.. any recommendation?
