DennisTheBear
Hi all! Like the last couple of posts I'm an aviation modeller, but am planning and collecting material for a diorama involving a jeep and 1 or 2 trucks. My question is what types of radio equipment was fitted to or carried in jeeps in the South-West Pacific Theater between about August 1942 and August 1944. The diorama will be a scene from northern Australia if that helps. Thanks in advance for any help! Dennis The Bear
demiles
Hi, Dennis,A quick check on the net and found the following:Fitting Radio Equipment to a WW2 Jeephttp://www.vmvc.org.au/Articles/how%20to/jeep%20radio%20fitting/jeep%20radios.htmlIt reckons that the most common radio/s fitted to ¼ ton 4x4 (Jeep) is the BC-620 (SCR-510) or the BC-659 (SCR 610).In addition is a goolge search for images of the BC-620https://www.google.com.au/search?q=bc+620+radio&biw=1237&bih=693&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiIzN7J9KnNAhWC4D4KHaneAnkQ_AUIBygCAlso the following site lists the most commonly used Australian manufactured military radio equipment used during World War II.Lastly I did a search for world war 2 radio sets through the Australian War Memorial:https://www.awm.gov.au/search/all/?query=world+war+2+radio+sets&op=Search&format=list&rows=20§ion%5B%5D=events§ion%5B%5D=units§ion%5B%5D=places§ion%5B%5D=articles§ion%5B%5D=books§ion%5B%5D=people§ion%5B%5D=collections&search-check-all=1Hope this helpsDavid
