Roof Rat
Good morning all I hope you find this of interest: 1 Sept 1916: (100 years this year) The records of John Brown Shipyards show the official date Hood's keel was laid as 1st September 1916 thereafter becoming Hood as we know it. 24 May 1941: (75 years ago today) The Battle of Denmark Strait. At 0600, Hood sank following a catastrophic explosion resulting from a deep penetrating hit from Bismarck. Out of a 1418 crew only 3 Ordinary Signalman Ted Briggs, Midshipman William Dundas and Able Seaman Robert Tilburn survived. RIP one and all RR.
