Petit'Gguy Lightning Blue

Recommended Posts

We found this little chap t'other day when Christopher & I were surfing eBay looking at Gundams, and his Lordship though it was just too cute, so you can guess what happened

It arrived this morning while Boy was out with the family, and I couldn't resist breaking it out and building it straight away. Apparently, they're carried around on the back of normal Gundams on a little chair that straps to their backs (go figure!), and I've never seen them in action, possibly because I've not yet watched a massive quantity of Gundam Animé. I prefer the kits to the shows so far, if I'm honest as I don't seem to "get" the rambling nature of the shows, or the thought processes behind some of the seemingly less sensible actions of the characters  Doesn't stop me enjoying the hardware though :)

Will I count this in my completions for the year? :hmmm: Probably :wicked:

Don't credit me with anything other than trying my best to neaten up the sprue gate marks. You need neither paint nor glue, although I did add some glue to the friction fit areas to stop him from falling to bits. He's articulated with some tight-fitting viny bushes/bulbs, which slip over the arm/leg/neck roots to give an element of poseability.

Bandai's moulding MO seems to be three gates per piece. One is the primary feed, so is quite substantial, the other two being secondary, mainly to avoid damage to delicate edges, and to aid air removal, I'd imagine. The end result is two sprue gates that disappear, and one that usually doesn't. There appears to be either some slightly delaminated gate possibly due to the cooling of the flow, and even areas where the styrene's colour is more dense, both of which don't disappear under the usual sanding and polishing, although a dab of liquid glue a couple of hours before sanding can reduce the effect. I did actually think about repainting it to hide the marks, but once I saw Christopher eyeing it avariciously, I thought better of spending any more time on it. The only paint is on the nose, which then received a couple of coats of Klear, as did the eye stickers in an attempt to stop them peeling off. The nose stickers were just a bit too simplistic, and looked what they were, sadly.

There are also red, yellow and pink kits, or you can buy them all as a set, and as you'd imagine, their bases interlock. There are even aftermarket sprues with weapons & a set of wings to replace the bow, but they don't seem available on eBay, which seems to be a Bandai thing. Create the extras (like the lighting sets), then don't actively market them. :mental:

I have only ever seen the Petit'Gguy's on the back of a "Mama-San" aka Bearguy II Mobile Suit (it's not actually a Gundam), and I have seen alot of Gundam bits ;) It's from the TV Gundam Build Fighters Try which is a weird show in the way that it's a TV show that is set in "our" world, where Gundam is the same there as it is to us. As in TV/Movies/Manga/Novels/Mooks/Books?Gunpla... the list goes on, however over there, they have found a way to animate Gunpla, so why do that I hear you ask?! Well my friends, they use them to have world championships and make them fight it out to the end! What else?! Depending on how far advanced the fight is or what it is (like a friendly for example) the Gunpla (not all of them are Gundams btw) can take no to maximum damage from the fight. It's a pretty cool idea, but will never happen in my lifetime, sadly. As far as I know, there was only ever one of these built for a talent agency special (where the video leaves off). The main thing for people like me (Gundam fans) is watching Gundam Build Fighters and Build Fighters Try is spotting all of the "Easter Eggs" in the show in the form of cameros from characters and Mobile Suits/Armors :)

Really good model there Mike, I think they where mainly designed for the little ones tho :)

Kind Regards,

Dazz

Cheers Dazz... that YT clip was just... weird!

Yeah, it does help if you watch the series then you kinda get an idea on whats happening. It's a pretty cool show to be fair, also it's on YT legally. Always a result! :)

Kind Regards,

Dazz
