Junkers Ju87B-1 Stuka Airfix 1/72 New Tool

Recommended Posts

Time for a straightforward build... please? My next one's the new tool Airfix Stuka:

There's a review by John (back in January) with some nice sprue shots.

It was with some trepidation that I found only one build here by thepureness and that's unfinished. Gulp. Admittedly I gave up on page 3 of the search (mostly bigger scale). I'm hoping it's not because things go awry? we shall see.

Fondling the lovely sprues (there is some great detail) I did find one possible problem:

Easy to fix (if needs be). I'll get started once the FR IXc is finished and the pink has left my eyes...

Hi Ced!

I'm glad I've found your thread at the start, as I tend to miss them and only catch up when you're nearly (or even) finished.

I'm very interested in this kit, as it's a famous type and I was expecting Airfix's B to be out in the shops. Anyway, this is in my shopping list and I'd like to see how it turns out and if any problems arise (I've had a few problems with Airfix kits, as you may know... :P )

Looking forward to seeing this one progressing.

Cheers

Well it is about time :thumbsup2:

I am hoping to get back to mine tonight but there is hockey and Castle and a few more I need to catch up on after the trip. Still want to get the fuselage together.

The interior is nice.

There is something about the Stuka that just looks like it has no sense of humour, and is going to kill people - sinister if you will.

But that bent thingy means this one can't be taken seriously, so we should endeavour to have some fun with it. Back to you Ced.

Really looking forwards to this one Ced. It's in my stash for a rainy day although I have fondled it's parts. Will you be doing it as a Spanish Civil War or WWII aircraft?

Ced builds yet another kit from my stash... ...hang on a minute :hmmm:

Very keen to see how this one turns out, it certainly looks nice in the box but then, so many kits do!

Good luck.

I've got one in the stash (unlike Stew with his cellar, I bury mine under trees in my Deer Park for the plastic pigs to hunt a la truffles), had intended to build it alongside my Zvezda Stuka but something happened (or rather it didn't!).

Thanks Jaime and welcome! :)

This and the Dornier need to be finished before I can put my BoB builds on the ceiling so it won't belong before that gets started too.

S...STUKAS! ::ditches bicycle, runs for the hills::

Hi PC :)

Ah, the famous scene from 'Battle of Britain'... here I go again, thinking about Susannah York, sigh...

Are the double colons a 'special nomenclature'?

Well it is about time :thumbsup2:

Hi Phil, sorry to keep you waiting! :)

I stopped watching 'Castle' when, like many of the other US crime series, the writers seemed to think it was essential to introduce some 'female interest' into the dialog. I like the characters but I don't really care about their personal lives (I'm English after all and that sort of thing should be, er, personal). Criminal Minds almost lost my interest (just rescued itself) and 'Bones' is getting a bit 'beyond the pale'... "Yes, tough guy, I know there's a serial killer on the loose and we need to save the hostages, but first tell me, how is your relationship with your girlfriend / wife / estranged daughter going". Yuk.

Hi Mike :) Fun with a Stuka? Hmmm. Better not eh? I'm hoping this will be a straightforward build and I can have a rest.

Really looking forwards to this one Ced. It's in my stash for a rainy day although I have fondled it's parts. Will you be doing it as a Spanish Civil War or WWII aircraft?

Tony

Hi Tony :) I'll be doing the 1940 French scheme, 6G+AT (avoiding typing the unit name)

Ah good man Ced; I really must lay one of these in for the Plastic Cellar at Dapple Hall :D

In the meantime I look forward to seeing how yours goes :)

Cheers,

Stew

Hi Stew :) I shall of course be stealing your ideas for the pilot painting... and probably do the Dornier chaps at the same time. Crikey, there's H colour numbers here I haven't seen for ages... they would have you paint the uniforms H94 'WWI Blue' and the harness H20 - that's Crimson! Some artistic licence required methinks! I may even have a go at the Splitterschutzbrille splinter-proof tinted goggles...

Hi Wez - if you don't lock your doors... :D

Look forward to you starting this one Ced, looks a very nice kit

Rob

Thanks Rob :)

Cripes!

You don't hang around do you? I've not seen this kit yet so will be interested to see how it goes.

Trevor

Hi Trevor - the devil makes work for idle hands (and he also makes short run kits) :)

Hi Duncan and welcome :)

I assume you'll be hanging this one from the ceiling at an angle?

Hi Simon :)

I think this one will be flying straight(ish) with a Hurricane on its tail. I already have one bombing my desk:

Thanks Stu, very kind :)

Hi hacker, welcome. :)

Ah, the A-10... what an aircraft with even scarier pilots. I remember seeing a couple fly really low over the road and across a field. There was a line of trees on the other side of the field. Did he go over? Nope, flipped on his side to get the wingtip between the trees. Crazy.

Stuka paused while I finish the FR IX. Bear with me.

Crikey, there's me been stalled on my Albert build for the last couple of months and Ced is churning them out like there's no tomorrow! :)

Shouldn't that be "...like sausages..."

Got one of these in my stash, and it is number..ah 8 (I think) in line, so I'll be watching with interest!

I would be careful Ced, I don't think it's a great idea to have a bear with you....

 Don't worry Rob, I know Bears are dangerous, I've seen the sign...

Well, I'm not really a luftywaffy fan, but I'm certainly a CedB build thread fan, so I'll hang around if that's OK Ced...

Any pictures of the bear?!

Keith

Yes, welcome! I'm not really either Keith but some of them are interesting...

Bear pictures? You need to search the 'net, but be careful :D

Yes, unfortunately I'm forced to agree. Why else woud I have a part built Airfix Dornier 17 hanging around waiting to be finished?! :banghead::D

I love the bear warning sign!
