Zvezda Bf109-F4 colours

Just dug this out of the stash as it looks like a rather nice little model. However a glance at the instructions gives no indication of the correct RLM colours. There's only a single machine offered in the box - Max Helmut Ostermann of JG54 Grunherz, Russia 1942 - but it gives alternative pre 10/5/42 scheme & post 10/5/42 with a white finish over much of the airframe but it's the pre winter scheme I want to do. It carries the usual splinter scheme over light blue sides & undersurfaces with a mottle of what appears to be a THIRD colour but can any one offer suggestions as to the correct RLM Shades?

If so, what Stu says is the basic answer, but JG 54 are the camouflage mavericks, and many non standard schemes can be found.

quick trawl at asisbiz..

there are 5 photos of Black 1 there

eg

Messerschmitt-Bf-109F4-8.JG54-(B1+~)-Max

Messerschmitt-Bf-109F4-8.JG54-(B1+~)-Max

which to me looks like a repaint from the standard 74/75/76 grey's

there is this profile

There are colour pics of JG 54 Bf109's and Fw 190's with uppers in 2 and 3 shades of green , and green and brown.

I know these maybe slightly later, but just to show the maverick nature JG 54 schemes....

You may want to pick when you want to model the plane, and go from there. Hopefully others will know more.

Finally, I don't know how good Zvezda decals are, they look very matt and a bit thick on the sheet.

Yes that's the one. Very useful thanks!
