1/350 HMS Resolution SSBN - new from Mikro-Mir

Recommended Posts

Look what the postman just delivered.......

350-HMS%20Resolution_01.jpg

The latest 1/350 scale submarine kit from the ever productive Mikro-Mir ..... and it's BRITISH !!

The hull is in two vertically-split halves - minus the missile decking (which aids conversion)

350-HMS%20Resolution_02.jpg

The decking - plus sail, dive planes, masts etc are on a separate sprue.....

The package is finished off with an etched brass propeller and a simple decal sheet (why are British subs so plain? - not even a pennant number)

The instruction sheet is a simple exploded diagram......

.... and a simple painting guide - black, black or.......... black.

This is a very welcome addition from Mikro-Mir - if sales are good, maybe we will get more British submarine types.

Thanks Mikro-Mir :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Nice one Ken, you still going to do this with a dsrv on the rear? adding the white markings as per photos (obviously brushed on, not the straightest lines LOL). Mines on route, should land any day, this has been selling well on ebay, Linsall has relisted at least three times after selling out each time.

I contemplated doing the same to break up the sheer blackness of this submarine, but wont attempt mine for some time as i have a full build list up to November.

Just getting started on the Alanger 1/350 Typhoon.

All the best Chris

My two arrived today. As Ken says the way the missile deck is done is great for facilitating conversion to a Valiant - but I shall wait to see how Ken does this before making any such attempt myself!

  • 2 weeks later...

It's a simple build - two vertically split hull halves, the missile decking, rudders and rear dive planes, two-part folding front dive planes and four-part sail.....

350-HMS%20Resolution_07.jpg

The missile decking needed a bit of filler to hide the joint.....

350-HMS%20Resolution_08.jpg

Major parts attached (the sail temporarily)......

350-HMS%20Resolution_09.jpg

Ready for painting.......

350-HMS%20Resolution_10.jpg

All the parts fit together well - an easy build so far.

Nice one Mikro-Mir :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hi

Still thinking valiant conversion

in theory its just cut out the missle compartment and the stick the two halves back together ?

and alter the deck maybe ?

i pretty much only remember the RC :)

cheers

Jerry i think youll find theres a little more to it than that.

Comparing my 1/700 Valiant and Resolution, the rear fins and propeller are a different size, the sails are different sizes, the noses are different profiles from the side and above.

Heres a couple of comparison shots;

Ill join you Ken, same excuse, mine too, came flat packed, havent even assembled box. Just checked my photos of resolution class, wiggy your spot on, the sail gives it away.

We can hope its a future release, with the box art mixed up.
