Whofan
I'm hoping that someone here will be able to help. I'm looking for details of the colour identifier jackets deck crew wore on board carriers during the Korean War which would assist a potential project. Paul E
I found this link which might help. http://www.navy-net.co.uk/community/threads/fightdeck-surcoats.44822/ To help with the Naval Slang; Chock Head - Air Handler responsible for movement of Aircraft around the deck including landing and launch Badgers - Flight Deck Engineers responsible for the Catapult, Arrestor Wires and Jet Blast Deflector (including connecting the aircraft to the catapult). Bomb Head - Air Armourer responsible for moving and fitting weapons to the Aircraft. Then there are the Greenies, Pinkies and Grubbers who are the Aircraft Engineers. Also on this forum: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234967915-a-question-for-the-ex-faa-gang/ To say that colours used by the FAA are as old as the Ark would not be far off the mark, so you should be confident that Flight Deck crews during the Korean War were designated in the same way.
