Revell Tornado GR4 to GR1

A fellow at my local hobby shop convinced me that it would be easy to backdate the Revell Tornado GR.4 kit, into a Desert Storm Gr.1.

I purchased the kit, but am admittedly flummoxed about a backdate, as I know NIL about the Tornado. Can you kind people provide some advice?

The Revell Gr4 kit provides you with two different spines for the top of the fuselage behind the cockpit, make sure you use the one without the small round disc (GPS antenna). The Gr1 also has both cannons fitted whereas the Gr4 only has the starboard one, the bits should be in the kit to allow you to fit both.

Remove the GPS antenna!

There is quite a visible differences in the the cockpits

GR 4

Tornado Advanced Radar Display and Information System (TARDIS)

Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) TV Tabs

Pilot's Multi Function Display (PMFD)

GR 1

Combined Radar and Projected Map Display (CRPMD)

(CRT) TV Tabs

Repeater Projected Map Display (RPMD)

If you do a search on t'interweb you should see the cockpit differences.
