vh-bob
Having seen an impressive build of an Airfix B-29 on the forum recently, here is my attempt. It is a VB-29 VIP transport of Strategic Air Command in the mid 50s, taken from a profile in an old issue of SAM. With less weight and cleaner profile, she must have been quite a performer. JWM
Really very impressive build of this ancient kit! BTW - having a closer look to Airfix B29 recently twice on RFI I've found a fragment in which Airfix mould looks like much detailed than Academy one - namely, the exhaust pipes should be cover with same ventilation panels with long vertical openings and this is reproduced in Airfix but not in Academy where they are solid pannels... Viking
Wow, that looks really smart, and like you say she must have had impressive performance with all that extra weight and drag removed. Cheers John
mcdonnell
Hello,VH-Bob - What a superb job you've done on your B-29.I love this different scheme and it compliments the elegant lines of the type. It's great to see this Airfix Classic again. It brought back happy schoolday memories for me when a pal was the first person we knew who had got one these kits when they were first released amid great excitement. An Airfix 'Superkit' for the sum of 12 Shillings and 6 Pence. She looks every bit as good today as she did then.Great stuff. All the best,Paul.
