DDELK
My guestion is, what is the best thinner to use with these enamels? I've been using the Squadron brand enamel thinner and I seem to have mixed results. I use the Tamiya acrylic thinner when using the MM acrylics and that seems to work out fine, as the acrylic paint seems to be thinner anyway. If anyone has suggestions on the enamel thinner I would appreciate it. Also, what is the best mix ratio for the enamel paint/thinner. I'm using the Iwata Eclipse. Cookenbacher
Hi Dave, I use hardware store odorless mineral spirits/white spirit to thin MM enamels and it works great in my Iwata Revolution.
Trenton guy
I have used Modelmaster for more than 30 years. I have only used there own proprietary thinners and have had great luck with them. One thing to understand about Modelmaster is that there are actually two Modelmasters. The original Modelmasters and Modelmasters II. Modelmaster II is the somewhat newer line (although both have been around for quite a while). It seems to have a finer pigment, goes down smoother, and can be freehand airbrushed to a much finer line. The original Modelmaster colors are mostly modern USN and and USAF while most WWII colors are in the Modelmaster II line (many exceptions apply). It never ceases to amaze me that after all these years ( both have been around for more than 25 years) the two different formulations persist, even though II seems, at least to me, to be a superior product.
