Hi Dads,

I find black uniforms a lot easier to do than white ones, but black is still hard to pull off well when compared to 'coloured' uniforms.  You've done an excellent job so far and I just know your figures will end up looking great. Your scalpel/tool work to sharpen up the details is the secret of success though. Great painting can only disguise a poor mould by so much, while a good mould can flatter a less skilled painter. YI must get myself some similar tools.

Btw, are you still using Panzer Aces paint for the shadows and highlights?

Rearguards,

Badder

Cheers Badder,

I used the Panzer Aces blacks for German uniforms as a base really adding some beige to lighten and pure black Vallejo to the three base colours 334,335 and 337.

Some were heavily thinned down and whilst still wet I blended as best I could to the adjacent tone/colour.

I used a good quality sable brush set the smallest being a 10/0. I avoid dry brushing as this makes the blacks very chalky which looks really unnatural

and false.  The only washes used are thinned Vallejo/Panzer Aces paint, again the water based washes to me do not have small enough particles to be used as a wash. I might just do a final black oil wash just to creep into the details

and act as a filter to blend in all the acrylic paint layers.  Finally a matt varnish to completely deaden any gloss.

Hope this makes sense

Getting close now for the Commander :frantic:

Not my best figure TBH but he will do, I forgot the rank decals so they still need to be done

and also the head needs painting. Matt Varnish has been added which was a mistake as I forgot

two decals

Started in blocking in the flesh tones and basic detail

painting of the cap, he looks a bit like a zombie at the moment,

with some lighter flesh tone added it should sort it out

Just sculpted up the wrists for the commander, whilst they are setting I added them to his arms,

took a couple of photos with him the hatch. His hands and hair still need painting.

So the funker is almost done now. Not sure what these guys did but for a crew they are all highly decorated, 3 iron crosses

Funker has now had all his decals added and awaits wiring up, the commanders hands are now done and I've made a start on the drivers face.
