HL-10
Not pink anymore! (Temporarily) Given it a covering of Tamiya's NATO green to act as a primer/undercoat. It looks good in green, but will soon be pink again

HL-10
Back to pink! Mixed pink using a red primer colour and white, as they did with the original. I'm happy with the shade. I used a brush wet with thinners to cut back the pink to reveal the green of the seat cushions. I intend to use this method in selected high wear areas to show the underlying NATO green. Sprayed the wheel hubs with over spray on to the tyres: Thanks for looking
phildagreek
Looks very good. You know that someone with zero knowledge will point out your "poor" paint job on the tyres.

Badder
I note the 'poor paint job' on the tyres, but then, I have zero knowledge about anything .... except that it's all looking great. HL-10
Re the over spray on the tyres. The paint was applied in the theatre of operations and so wasn't a workshop job. This resulted in quite a bit of over spray on things like the tyres and even the seats as they weren't masking as they sprayed.
Wogga
HL the only time a British Army vehicle got s spray job in the workshop was when it it was in for a total refurbishment in a base workshop, every other time mate paint was applied by brush or spray (if you were lucky) by the crews, there was jack all else to do down the garages. So you are not wrong in your theory ;-) Mind you i would suspect at Hereford they would have the workshop doing it, some local employed civvy would be the resident artist.

HL-10
The reason I sprayed the model NATO green first was because I wanted to try this method of weathering. With cotton buds soaked in Tamiya thinners I rubbed the pink away from areas where I believed the paint would be worn off by various factors. Where the rubbing has revealed plastic, I will simulate it worn down to metal. Once I got the desired effect, I moved on to start the detail painting on the Pinkie, tools, and other fixture & fittings: I also fitted the sand trays, which are from the Eduard set, as are the retaining chains on the caps for the smoke grenade launchers. At the moment the pile of equipment on the back is painted in one shade of green. I will be picking out the individual Bergens and kit bags in various tones.
