Spookytooth
Hi folks, back again. I had a lovely little package through the post from "At Sea" Peter. Top marks to the man, I had a pm from him offering me the above as he had them spare. A lot better than the kit`s. Well work got in the way this weekend but I did get some thing done. The tail hook.cleaned up so far. I will post more as and when I can. All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Simon, those exhaust cans look like a great addition to the kit Well done to At Sea for offering them to you Ciao
Biggles87
Late start for me also. I remember this kit from the ' Golden Age ' of Monogram, their moulded detail was some of the best around, and I think I prefer fine raised panel lines to trenches. Great start. John PS if you think that's big, I've got one in 1/32 !
Spookytooth
Cheers Giemme and John, I have yet to use resin and P.E on a kit so here comes the steep learning curve. Oh the joys of modeling LOL. BTW Giemme, that Italian diet does wonders for your looks mate, you looked younger than your earlier pic. And John, I have seen the "big ones" and yes , one day I may just go for it, although SWMBO might have something to say about it. Simon.
giemme
BTW Giemme, that Italian diet does wonders for your looks mate, you looked younger than your earlier pic. That pic was taken after having spent 15 days of holydays at sea; that might help looking better Edited April 25, 2016 by giemme

Gremlin56
Nice intakes and burner cans, they will look very nice
Spookytooth
Cheers Gremlin, they are just the burner cans, it also came with the retaining gear for the tail hook. But I a not sure whether that will get used yet, I will see. Simon.
Spookytooth
Right good people. I managed to get a bit done today. I separated the cans and exhaust tubes? from their bases, and took some better shots. The cans are just as nice. I could not get a decent pic inside the tubes but needless to say there is detail inside to work on. Also a close of the delicate afterburner rings. Also in the package was this little beauty, the tail hook latch. So the next thing will be a bit of surgery to the fuselage. Remove 7 mm from the rear floor area. Until then , thanks all, and especially Peter "At Sea" All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Nice clean up job with those cans, Simon And I agree, the tail hook latch is a little beauty. Ciao
Spookytooth
Thanks Giemme, I am going to use the tail hook latch, after a quick bit of reference hunting, it showed up. Anyhow, today I have been drilling and grinding out birds back ends!!!! Well Sparrows as such. I had drilled an .8 mm hole and a bit of stock to cure the fixing location. Then to the back ends. After seeing some pics on the walk around, I saw that the back ends of the Sparrows as well as the Sidewinders are concaved nigh on conically. So out with the drill then the dental burrs and mini drill. Be warned though the front Sparrows are different , there is a slant on them to fit the fuselage, luckily I only need one. They all still need a polish up before priming. Also got the razor saw out and removed the bits for the exhaust cans to fit. Will tackle the Sidewinders later. All comments welcome. Gremlin56
Major surgery going on here. You seem to be enjoying this build more than the jug Simon.
Spookytooth
There is that Gremlin. Don`t look now, but the Sidewinders are getting the treatment too. Firstly location point. Poor pic I know but could not get the light right. And its matching hole on the launch rail, hopefully Now for the fun bit, grinding out the rocket nozzle. They don`t look to bad under normal eyes .LOL. Now to work out how to fix the launch rails to the pylons? The destructions are not very clear at all here. Will post a pic later to show what I mean. All comments welcome. Simon.
Spookytooth
OK folks, what do I do? Should those rebates face the wing, i.e. upwards? And these ugly things, I think they are suppose to be triangular in shape and not have a solid centre if you know what I mean? Any answers will be really appreciated on this on. I personally think that I should hack those tabs off, and scratch up some supports. Then, I would fill those rebates on the launch rails with a bit of card then drill mounting holes to match the pins on the pylons. Even if it means cutting the pins off and drilling through the pylon and use a bit of plastic rod as a locating pin(s). What do you think? Thanks Simon.

Spookytooth
Hi all. Firstly a big thanks to Gremlin who offered me some reference material. Cheers mate , it backed up what I had seen previously. Also thanks to Giemme for the offer too. So, I bit the bullet and started the surgery. Before. And after. The launcher rails are getting the treatment too. The rebates were filled with a sliver of stock strip. Left to harden over night will then clean up and continue there. Have still to work out how to fix the "Pods" to the pylons though . So another problem to solve All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
Sorry Giemme, the pics were in the right order, I cut the pins and the tabs off. More on those bits later. Finally got around to spraying some primer on. Alcad`s Black primer/micro filler. Pre-shading, the easy way. The office was next. + panels. And seats. Also done some small little bits. I hope to get on with some more spraying and painting tomorrow. All comments welcome. Simon.

Gremlin56
Looking good Simon. How did you get along with the Alclad Microprimer? I couldn't get the stuff to work for me, clogged up every airbrush I tried to use it with. You seem to have had no problems though
