The Spadgent
Nice masking. I'm a bag of nerves doing mine at the moment after all the trouble I had last time. you seem to be rocketing along. Johnny
Spookytooth
Thanks John, a steady hand and a stencil cutter I got from Expo. Will post pic if wanted. Right, that scratch. And this is what I used. With that one done I can finish the masking off on i. Still have the windscreen and bridge section to do yet. All comments welcome. Gremlin56
Have been looking at the masking Simon, see that you use a different approach putting big pieces of tape on and trimming the edges with a sharp knife. I use small pieces of tape to mask the edge before using bigger pieces to mask off the rest (or use artists masking fluid to protect the rest). This avoids using sharp pointy things on the canopies. Just my though
Spookytooth
Thanks Gremlin, will take advice on board. Well this evening has been busy but got stuff done. Polished the windscreen scratch out and masked up the other part I had polished out yesterday. Forgot to take pics but I still have the bridge section to do yet. Once that was done , I proceeded to clear the bench of tools and set up for spraying. Privates on parade. And from above . Some other bits. Also got cheeky with the inlet areas . And as you can see, a tidy bench, (The Rhino is far right.) All ready for the primer. See how things go tomorrow. All comments welcome. Ciao After this long, I am glad that I have got this stage Giorgio. OK folks, after getting my chores done I proceeded to set up shop. Under the very watchful eye of the foreman Smiley Bear. And soon I was off and running, well spraying. Until the compressor went tits up on me. But got this far. Not to bad... from a distance. A bit closer and... Ooooops. And here too.. So, not a good day. BUT in the next post I will bring you good news , I hope. All comments welcome. Simon.
Spookytooth
Good news, my good lady wife gave me an early birthday present, ( stop it at the back there) The new compressor. And what is inside. Alas the old one, which I am going to swap the external pressure gauge over. Set it up with ease but the gauge on the compressor is not good at all. But I did finish off the rest of the upper sides of her. A bit patchy here and there. But the slime lights did not turn out all too bad. And at the back end. I am going to leave there tonight, to do some fine tuning on the compressor tomorrow, before attempting any more spraying. Thanks all All comments welcome. Gremlin56
A little dissolved putty is all you need Simon, that will solve the "Munchkin Gaps". Lady Rose is taking good care of you here IMHO Cheers, Julian
giemme
I agree with Julian on all accounts, you are a lucky man, Simon. Take my bestest to Lady Rose. Ciao
Spookytooth
Thank you gentlemen, I am indeed a lucky man, I have sent your wishes on. Anyhow, final update of the night. As I did not have any of the dissolving putty mentioned by Gremlin , I use some PPP instead. Not bad, will see later. Again, could be OK. Definitely some more needed there, but will wait until she has her bottom done Fnar. Hopefully I can get the rest of the stuff primed as well tomorrow. All comments welcome. Spookytooth
Well the compressor is working well, and I managed to get this lot done. First the undersides. A bit of a gap at the front there but what the .... Filler. The P.E and new door. The tail feathers. The rest of the bits have been done too. Time for a coffee, then inspection and remedial work to commence. All comments welcome. Simon. PS I am now using Flickr as PB wee wee`d me off.

Gremlin56
That looks like a nice smooth layer to continue work on Simon, your attention to small gaps is paying off too
Spookytooth
Thanks John and Julian, slowly getting there. Right, these parts are ready for base coating. The seams!!!!!!! Nose Starboard first/ Nose port now. Now to the back end.... Starboard back. And port side back end. Back to the front again. And the dirtbox. Yes, all needs work doing to them but at least I can see them now before it`s to late. The smooth finish will get rubbed down, then a second coat will be laid down. That`s it for today. All comments welcome. Simon.
giemme
Some remedial work to be done on the seams, but I think you can easily manage that, Simon Ciao
Gene K
Simon, Since it appears your putty is filling in some top-of-fuselage scribing (like those irksome round fuel access panels and the Air Refueling Door), you may want to consider filling them all in and using pencil and circle template to draw them in after the model's been painted (dull coat any shiny lead). Could save a lot of frustration. (I still don't know what that penguin connotes ... but he looks stoned happy) Gene K Edited April 30, 2017 by Gene K
Biggles87
Nice smooth finish on the primer. I find that the top/bottom fuselage split is usually great for the wing to fuselage join but usually not so good on the fuselage sides. I like the old Monogram kits but it's always more difficult to replace raised detail, have you considered positive rivet transfers? Johm I did at first John, but the price was a bit off putting, we are still getting our new flat together, but I have a cunning idea ahead... Right, on with this quick update. Gave the spine a light rub down to see what it` like. From a different angle. Not too bad at all, a coat of primer will tell. To the nose end now. A little attention I see. Not bad again but a little bit more. This still needs seeing to. And I saw this as well. So, still a bit to do before base coats I think. Off for a cuppa now. All comments welcome. Spookytooth
Replenished with a cuppa and fag, I will continue. A quick glance at the wing root showed a mishap. I also gave her a light buffing over the top sides, the primer was slightly rough in places. And then I noticed this . The wing root bit has been sorted, careful application of a No, 9 blade. Still to polish the bottom Fnar, and see what awaits there. Have a wonderful whatever is left of your bank holiday. All comments welcome. Spookytooth
Biggles87 and Giemme, you will have to wait a while for this plan. But until then, work has continued. The nose end. That does not look to bad. A little tidy and that shall do there. And to the front sides. We will see tomorrow, in proper light. I been messing around at the back end, cleaning up seams etc, and hope to get those done tomorrow. All comments welcome. Simon.
