F 4C Hickham A/Field 1984 1/48 Revell.

Recommended Posts

Well folks, time for a little update.

The missing U/C door..

Fabrication begins.

First I made a template out of the other door.

UCD%204_zpsuqkysiat.jpg

Then transferred that to a strip of 0.5 mm card.

UCD%205_zpsre8k5s4v.jpg

Then cut it out.

UCD%206_zpsvkfhblsu.jpg

Did the same again but then trimmed it slightly smaller.

UCD%207_zps8odemtsx.jpg

Then stuck them together making sure that I had them the right way around.

UCD%208_zpsevbtg3zd.jpg

All done under the watchful eye of Smiley Bear, the wife`s Teddy, who reports back to her what I have been doing.

SBGOTI_zpsqt3pptro.jpg

Yep, he has got the bug too, I caught him looking at the instructions.

Well, I am going to leave the door to set and continue tomorrow.

All comments welcome.

Well folks, I have just called myself foo-foo of the week.

After filing and cleaning up the new door ready for the next stage I realised that I had in fact made a duplicate of the same door used as a template.

Sorry about that PB again.

So I had to start again.

UCD%2010_zpskcc0txwt.jpg

And all together now, the new one has the I on it.

UCD%2011_zps1xsjnqkr.jpg

I am going to let this set and then continue with adding the locating tab, whence the tabs at one end.

Going to cook tonight's dinner in between bits at the bench.

All comments welcome.

Simon (Duty Chef).

Harry, have you tried Revell?

They are usually pretty good at sorting things out.

I had a cracked window screen for a Ferrari I built and they replaced it.

I have just checked my set, and they look like they were printed in Italy, probably Cartograph .

Thanks for the comments chaps.

The door still needs some filing and another piece added for the locating tab.

That should be done tomorrow, hopefully.

Anyhow between cooking dinner (Roast Lamb etc) I attacked those ugly looking gaps where the ailerons go.

A run of C/A hit with some accelerator, then a couple of brushes of the Liquid Green Stuff.

FP%204_zpsdkbwcvpi.jpg

Sorry a bit blurred, but needs more filler.

FP%205_zpsblho3ozl.jpg

Not too bad but still have the ends to do, blast.

That`s it for today.

All comments welcome.

Simon . (Stuffed full and with enough Lamb over to do a curry (Rogan)).

Nice new door and nice new door again.;) it's like something I would do. great save though. Nice work Simon.

Jont

I am not the first, nor will I be the last to do that John. LOL.

A record for me recently, 3 updates....

Being that it got quite warm today, I was able to finish the door off.

I filed and sanded the edge to the require angle using MK 1 eyeball.

UCD%2012_zpsh82zwe63.jpg

And side on.

UCD%2013_zpstedy6jcv.jpg

Then cleaned up and some Liquid Green Stuff applied to the joins.

UCD%2014_zpsn3o7o4kw.jpg

And other side.

UCD%2015_zpsbwmyfqhu.jpg

I am going to leave it there for tonight.

Hope to get some more done tomorrow afternoon.

Well, things have not turned out to bad.

After checking against the other door I found that the locating tab was to far from the edge of the door.

No problem, out with the trusty scalpel and a snip here and there plus another bit of plastic.

A careful file, and this is what I ended up with.

Sorry PB again.

Not to bad I suppose, just a corner needs nipping out.

Also been at the aileron gaps, and they need just a little bit work, poss Tuesday.

Thanks Giemme, have done that corner now.

Anyhow, back to today.

Finished off the tidying up and now have masked the office ready for primer.

And an angry bird look from the front.

Hopefully I can lay some primer down tomorrow morning, as busy in the afternoon, life eh.

I am now off for a curry (home made)

All comments welcome.

Looking mean already! Are you going to prime her before fitting the intakes?

Ciao

Yes Giemme, I am going to mask the contact areas then spray.

Looking at the reference pics, the demarcation line is along the join between the lower wing and fuselage.

Once I have painted behind the vari- ramps I shall then attach the rest of the intakes.

If I was using hairy sticks to paint her it would not be to bad.

Thanks Tony, John and Julian, getting there, well sort of!!!

A bit too windy today for spraying so decided to get on and mask the canopy bits.

I made a boo boo on one part.:stupid:

CA%201_zpssoenay8h.jpg

An over zealous cut of tape left this.

Nothing that a gentle polishing cannot shift,(I hope).

Also the windscreen has a nasty little scratch .

CA%202_zpsh2u4fkgr.jpg

Just along the bottom edge.

Managed to get one piece done without any drama.

CA%203_zpskrsujniw.jpg

With the bridge still to do.

CA%204_zpsigatbzsq.jpg

Hopefully, I should be able to lay some primer down over the weekend.
