1/48 Hasegawa TF-104G Luftwaffe

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I recently finished Hasegawa's 1/48 TF-104G Starfighter, For the cockpit I used Aires' delicious cockpit set which, for a change, fits quite well. Also an exhaust from Aires was used. The details inside the canopies were scratch built. The decals came from the kit.

This kit was a joy to build. The fit is very good if you take your time.

Paints used are from Gunze and a wash from AK.

Really, really brilliant. If only my own models turned out half as good as this one I would be one happy modeller.

But if I may be so bold as to bring up one point to remember next time you build a Starfighter: fill up the "rivets" in the wings, as was done on the real aircraft. Starfighter wings had a very smooth (upper and lower) surface to improve air flow over the wings.

The line of 104 models is one of the rare occasions where Hasegawa has overdone the riveting. Apart from that, outstanding kits!

Another wonderful build, beautiful paint job, really am starting to consider doing some 1:48!

Hi René,

well, to some extent it's a matter of taste, I suppose. The smooth wings are more realistic, but the rivets do make them a bit more "lively". Either way, it looks like the good old "rocket with wings" :D .

WOOOOOOOWWW Rene,

I had the pleasure of seeing it when you were working on it and even then i was flabbergasted with its beauty.

Now I see the pictures of the finished model I am even more impressed.

It brings back such pleasant memories when i saw them flying ahhh sweeet memories.

If mine wiil be half as nice as this one I would be very pleased my friend.

Hope to see it soon

Greetings from strijen
