AgentG
This is the old Dragon "Imperial Series" kit I picked up for cheap at a show. I wanted to build yet another variant of Pz III used in the North African campaign. I used MM Acryl "Sand" and "Armor Sand" for the tropen colors. They come close out of the bottle and with some weathering and pigments I think it looks great. I used some of my spare Dragon and Tamiya parts to supplement the details. AgentG
Thank you all! These tanks had a unique look to them. Their appearance evolved to what you see here in the closing months of the campaign. The 75mm cannon on lend lease M3 Grants provided a nasty shock. Excerpts from "Panzers in the Sand" Volume 2 indicate by El Alamein all the tanks had lengths of track as extra protection. They always carried some track sections along as spares, but now they were essential. Spare wheels were a hot commodity as mines were everywhere. Mantlet armor was often deleted in the desert as sand accumulated obscuring visibility. No issues with visibility were encountered in Russia though. Good fun build and another for my North Africa collection. G
