Stosh65
On my recent trip to Copenhagen we took a walk up the Rundetarn in the middle of the city. Apart from being a fascinating building and offering a wonderful view, you can also see everything land and leaving the airport which is very busy indeed. Anyway, one of the aircraft landing was an Emirates A380 which even from 6-7 miles away was just massive! I've seen them on the ground before but this was the first one I've seen flying and it honestly dropped my jaw. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar reaction to something like that or even the A380 itself.
Jabba
Not the size reaction, but sitting on the lower deck I found it strange to hear footsteps overhead until I remembered that there is an upper deck.

Being on the upper deck, I heard no footsteps
pigsty
I went past Birmingham Airport the other day and saw an A380 alongside the usual slew of A320s and 737s. It looked as though it had pupped, and the top of the fuselage was just about as high as the end of the terminal building. The fin just goes on forever. I'm seeing increasing numbers of A380s over the house now. They stand out from 747 because of a distinctive engine note, but the thing that I always think when I first glimpse one is, that's a 747SP. The tall fin and deep body give it strangely similar proportions. Someone at work went on holiday recently by A380. She insisted on being on the upper deck because it was higher up - as in, 35,000 feet plus 15 feet. Makes all the difference!
Latinbear
I saw an Emirates one recently flying over the Surrey/Kent border and apart from it's size (it was running into London and so was relatively low) I was struck by how quiet it was. On the occasions that I do see one it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up because it is a really impressive sight. I flew in an A380 courtesy of Quantas in 2012 and I confess that it felt like flying in any other large airliner so the event was wasted on me. Perhaps if I'd been up the front I might have felt differently about it.

Bordfunker
I work at Bedfont just off the A30 and about 2 miles from Heathrow. My journey home takes me down the A30 towards Hounslow, and depending on the flight path, often takes me directly under incoming aircraft, and A380s look absolutely huge, and about to land on you! There's a BP petrol station on the south side of the A30 at this point, which offers a excellent vantage point, which can also beabitworrying when filling the tank while an A380 or Jumbo appears to plough directly towards you! I can recommend business class on both Emirates & Avatar A380s, Quantas not so much. Karl
