GrantGoodale
"I'm about ready to pinch liberate buy a Pontos deck from downstairs now I think - assuming there's one there." Look at this as product testing to insure that your customers receive quality goods :-)
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
Poor old Graf Spee really had taken a back seat. It seemed I never had an excess of stock of decks to borrow. We had a large order arrive from Pontos yesterday though and I specifically over ordered for this purpose. Good news for the Graf Spee - it'll be getting worked on today As is usual with Pontos decks, this one comes with anchor chain and dry transfer draft markings. This one also comes with more than the usual amount of PE.
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
After a wash with IJN deck tan thinned 50% to tone down the fairly bright wood, I have applied the deck and some of the Pontos PE deck plates.
Killingholme
Looks good Jamie, On a related topic, can I ask what concoction you use for the weathered anti-fouling colour? It looks really nice Will
Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
Hi Will, Thanks for looking in. For the underwater hull I start with the right anti-fouling red, in this case called "Schiffbodenfarbe III Rot 5" which is a dirty brown colour that was used by the German navy. This is sprayed uniformly over the whole hull. Using the left overs, I add about the same quantity again of matt white and keep it well thinned and with low pressure / fine needle spray a transluscent blotchy effect from the bottom up to just below the boot topping. I then add a medium/dark matt green to the leftovers in the spray jar, again thin it back down, then spray blotches on the keel and just up round the corners. Hope that helps?
