Tim Moff
I'm in with this Academy F6 and Xtradecal 48-003 - I think it will be a 74 Sqn standard DG/DSG over Aluminium. Have ordered this Aires set - anyone know the correct colour name for the green or the Humbrol/Mr Color call out? I plan to put a driver onboard as always so its a bit wasted on me, be my first proper look at resin/PE.... Col.
The 74 squadron markings will add a good splash of colour to the standard RAF Hunter scheme Tim. As for the green colour call-out in the cockpit; I'd go with all black in there as any Hunter 'pit I've seen has always been pure black
Colin W
Hi Colour cross referencing is on IPMS Stockholm. I take a bit of understanding the right place to look but its very good otherwise. http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/urbans-color-reference-charts-part-i/ But I agree with Col, black or dark grey would be better. Caerbannog
Good choice. I finished my Academy Hunter in the same basic scheme last year (the KUTA GB saved it from the shelf of Doom - if you are interested: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234970124-academy-hawker-hunter-148-plus-extras/).As Col. and Colin say - the Hunter cockpit was over all black AFAIK. Apart form the Resin cockpit you should consider to correct the u/c and most of all the wheels as well. Either with Aeroclub if you can get them or with the Heritage converion set: http://www.kitsforcash.com/hunter-correction-set-for-academy--italeri-kit----now-back-in-stock-3448-p.asp. The latter one also includes a new cockpit (but I suppose the Aires is supperior) and a shorter tail cone (I just shortend the tail cone of the Academy kit). If you contact John Aero you could do worse than include the vac canopy as well. René

René Great build René - I will be starting just as soon as I am back from Rio....another week away with work, worse places I know! Can I ask what paint you used for the underside - some say Hum 11, I prefer Mr Color paints, is it High Speed silver/aluminium or what?!
Caerbannog
Thanks Tim. I used Xtracolour High Speed Silver for the underside, but can check and compare tonight with other aluminum paints for a good match. IIRC I was a bit underwhelmed with it as it looks not very special compared with other silver paints, so I am sure there will be a good match from Humbrol or even Revell. Have a good trip home. Caerbannog
I checked the colour of my Academy Hunter and it is almost the same colour as Revell 99 aluminum. I have no Humbrol tin but it should be the same. In fact I guess all aluminum colours will work OK. Maybe it is a good idea to add some light grey - I guess this will bring it closer to the colour I found on pictures. Rene

Tim Moff
After 2 weeks of work madness, I will start this now I have the resin kit....never done any more than a few pieces, so this will be a learning curves....only bought is at the kit stuff does not work/wrong scale....will still button up wit a pilot so some of the seat stuff will be redundant. Gotta get it out and work out what to do first!!
Tim Moff
Not even had a chance to look at this due to work/1980s GB. Will look at getting it into another suitable GB/KUTA build. Apologies all
Col.
No worries Tim. I'll look forward to seeing your progress sometime in the future.
