Can I use Castrol GTX engine oil in my compressor?

I hope so, because that's what's in it and has been for over a year.

I have an old Simair 15/6.

What damage could GTX possibly do?

Thanks,

Badder

Compressor oil is very thin, much thinner than most automotive oils.

I run a re-badged Silair, and picked up some fresh oil from here.

I'd be inclined to use the real deal, rather than run the risk of ruining your compressor.

Well as they say, time will tell, me personally I'd put in what the manufacture recommends as they will have done the research

It's down to your seals, its possible some seals may not get on with some oils, especially if it's a different kind of oil but I would always use compressor oil, it does what it says on the tin.
