Another new Klear formula?

Hi all

Sorry if this has been discussed already, I know the Klear vs Pledge discussion has raged on forever. However I just went to buy some more multi surface wax from Sainsburys online and noticed the bottle is now white with blue on it and does not mention the word Klear at all. I'm not sure how recent a development this is as I have has my last bottle for ages but I could not find anything except older discussions when it first changed to Pledge. Amazon UK show the multi surface bottle on the picture but people are reporting they are receiving the new blue bottle without Klear on it. Can anyone confirm this is the same stuff......again'

Is it this stuff? This is what I picked up. Works quite well as far as I can tell. Although the first time I tried to dip a clear part it didn't seem to work properly, or maybe that was me doing it wrong (I dipped it and then took it out). But for brushing onto kits for weathering and decals, it does the job :)

That's the same stuff I have. Found it didn't brush very well for me (that might have been my older slightly knackered brush). It airbrushed brilliantly though.

How do you clean it from the airbrush? I kept hearing people say stuff like windolene, but I don't believe its sold anymore.

You can use ammonia but be careful, thats not nice stuff. You can get a bottle from most hardware stores (including Rymans) but not probably from your local supermarket.

Don't leave the ammonia to soak though, as it lifts chrome quite well  My local chemist sells half litre bottle of household ammonia (5%) that will blow the top off your head if you give it a good sniff

try Windex with Ammonia - ordered from Amazon Uk 768ml for £5.95 which is what I use for the yellow bottle Future! and then flush out with warm water / AB cleaner.

Ahhh.. Is using Pledge/Klear a bad thing for a regular chromed airbrush?

(Hm, if so, I should perhaps use one of those el cheapo airbruhses for airbrushing this.)

No... clean with water, or acrylic airbrush cleaner (Ultimate, Premiair foaming etc.), or if you stuff up and it goes hard in the cup, a chisel (that bit's a joke - use a wooden implement to remove any hardened stuff to avoid scratches) and some household ammonia for no more than a couple of hours (at a guess). If left overnight, ammonia will strip your chrome. That doesn't affect the functionality of your airbrush, but it doesn't look as nice when you look in the cup

I bought this floor wax as well, absolutely useless. First of spraying clogged up my AB almost instantly, the amount of hassles this caused. I tried to dip a canopy, again absolutely useless, it didn't dry even at all, I followed all the guides etc to no avail. It's now in to bin.

I bought some Alclad 2 ALC600 Aqua Gloss, and have used it for the past fortnight without any problems, although not dipped any canopies with it as it comes in such a small bottle. I don't know wither you can spray canopies with the ALC600.

I know its not Klear but, does anyone know if Tamiya's X-22 gloss is cleaned out the same way as their paints? I got some and want to airbrush it, but don't have anything stronger than what I normally use for cleaning (Aqua Color Clean).

I use IPA to clean it out from my airbrush but I've only used it a couple of time, usually with matt base added :)

Hmm. I don't have any of that. I would presume though that its the same thing more or less as their paints, though?
