PatW
Firstly lets look at the Surfite. I thought the wheels too small and the body bare so................. And with the summer coming along a surfboard hire was a good idea, so I took the kit boards, made a few more and added various decals some from the Firebird range...... And something to cart them around in...................... And put them all together out in the bright, warm sunshine today...................... The Tiki Hut is being nailed together as we speak. Back soon!
PatW
Now here's the Tiki Hut and the designer and builder of the real Surfite and Tiki Hut, Ed Roth. He's carrying one of the kit surfboards with a Firebird Designs decal on it. I've updated Ed's shirt by putting a Monster decal on it. Hold on is there someone still sleeping in there? Right we've got all the kit we need to hit the dunes........... And here we are in the dunes looking for customers to hire out our boards.................. You'll note that Ed has one of his own Rat Fink logo's on his shirt! Edited April 3, 2016 by PatW

bhouse
Excellent! Mind you, Ed must have a very strong right wrist to be able to hold a surfboard like that for more than a second or two!
PatW
Thanks guys. Yes the board must be getting heavy by now, but he's only popping it into the slot in the body alongside the cab They start with a styrofoam shape first and cover it with glassfibre nowadays, just imagine what they used to be like when they were made from wood! When I bump into some friends who work for various F1 teams near here, I'll have to ask what they have in the Kevlar & Carbon Fibre leftovers bin, interesting! Or wait for their parts sales at the end of the season. Edited April 5, 2016 by PatW
PatW
Purely for my eductation, staging a scene after a build has become a bit of a problem for me, so I went onto Google and searched 'Beach Scenes' and printed two off. The first two pics are using a piece of sandpaper as a base...... Not totaly convinced I went into the garage to play in the sand........... Then added Ed to the mix........................ Now I've got a rough idea what to do in future! Edited April 11, 2016 by PatW
