shood23
My other half got me this for my birthday this year and I could help but start it The box The main body parts have been stuck together and I have to be honest I made a mistake by cutting out all the supporting beams for where the roof would normally be I love the amount of detail aoshima put into the engines but I can't help but think in a car like this with how much will be hidden it's a bit unnecessary More to come very soon Shaun Edited March 24, 2016 by shood23
shood23
Over the last day I have primed the car and given it it's first coat of paint. This car has now been nicknamed the hulk by my kids so I'm now thinking how I can incorporate that into the build. Shaun

shood23
Thanks chaps and your more than welcome. Bit more done over the last couple of days but nowhere near as much as I wanted The engine has had the first coats of alclad put on The interior parts have been sprayed a mixture of tamiya pot paints A little mock up for the interior And finally the body which only has maybe 1 or 2 more coats of green to go, I have wanted to leave alot of drying between coats so it doesn't wrinkle (something I had happen to a 250 gto I'm building not long ago) More to come soon, once this apparently huge storm Katie does her worst. vontrips
Nice colour choice! There's a cheeky chap driving the coupe version in this colour around my neighbourhood. Saw it parked in our local Sainsbury's yesterday! Little monkey had grabbed a big 'parent and child' parking space! Obviously didn't want his paintwork scratched. shood23
Thankfully mines the roaster lol I haven't done much with this recently but here's the progress I have got the first gloss coat on so I can put the decals on Decals now on so it's time to make its shine More soon Shaun
Spookytooth
I do like that green Shaun. Quite shocking, and loud, like it should be for a car of this calibre. Simon.
shood23
Thanks Simon it will be most definitely the brightest car in my cabinet once completed. A little more done on the car today These are the rims and they look a little bland and boring So I sprayed a bit of tamiya smoke over them until I liked them And lastly the engine is mainly done Just a couple of bits on the front to go More soon Shaun
KonaDawg
Same colour as my scirocco! Love it.
shood23
My other half tells me this colour for this type of car is for midlife crisis times lol But on with the build I have been experimenting with thinning down tamiya pot paints with isopropyl alcohol to use in my airbrush and decided I should try them over something that wasn't a fully flat bit of plastic so I did the roof panels of this as if I messed up then they would be easy to just not put on So with how well I feel it worked on the roof I moved on to doing the areas on the car body that I planned on being black And a panned out shot More soon Shaun
Spookytooth
What Black did you end up using Shaun? I found that Tamiya acrylics go well with IPA. About a 50/50 mix mate. She is looking great Shaun. Simon.
shood23
Tamiya x18 semi gloss black thinned to almost 50/50 maybe a touch more paint than thinner. I did manage to get most of the other bits that need going black done today so this could be finished off pretty soon. Shaun
Mickd
That black sits very nice after being thinned with IPA, perfect complement to the green.

shood23
Thanks for the comments guys A little more has been done to this recently The wheels have been finishes and are ready to go on the car I have finished the engine bay The brakes have been glued on the car Rear lights have been put in And finally the aventador badges have been put in the door sills More soon Shaun
F1 Insider
Missed a trick with the Hulk theme here. You could have gone bright green, black accents and a really deep purple on the wheels.... ...that's if you actually wanted to go all Marvel on us. shood23
Ahhhh that would have been a much better look. I suppose there is always a chance at some point If I get to it I can change the rim colours Shaun
shood23
So a bit of an anticlimax to this build as I was in a foul mood yesterday while finishing this off so neglected to take any progress pictures but here's what happened. While getting all the little bits and bobs on the car to finish it I came up against the most annoying thing in the world, through out the build I have been checking the clear parts fitment and have had no problems so on I go putting all the lights and so on in with no problems. Door windows in with no issues then comes the windscreen, every test fit I have done has been perfect until I add the glue then it doesn't want to go in properly and me being me knowing that it will fit give it a bit too much force and the pillar breaks then in my haste I grab the inside if the window not knowing I had glue on my finger but here's the finished car and there will be a short thread in the rfi section later Thanks to all those who commented and looked at the thread Shaun

Danny_G
Thanks for the comments guys A little more has been done to this recently ... The brakes have been glued on the car ... More soon Shaun Love how the brakes have more detail than those of my Pocher Aventador in 1/8... But great job anyway, looking really good. Color choice was couragous but the end product justifies it. Edited April 18, 2016 by Danny_G
