Recommended Posts

Hi,
after i started with the CMM Ferrari 512M i got a lot of 2K putty here.
So i thought i must start another CMM kit before the putty gets too old to use.
So here it is.

So i started to play a bit with 2k putty today.

I used an release agent for the inner chassis and put both with 2k putty together.

After a while i take it apart and finaly i got a two halfs who really fit together. Before there was a gap of 3-4mm and thats not what i want.

Airintake will get open later.

The front fender is wrong.I need to use a lot of putty to get it near to the original shape.

Putty,putty,putty.

The rear is also not correct.Need some massive change.
A lot of work to do,but i known that before.

Holy c..p! That, has to be one of the worst resin kits I've ever seen. I suppose it gives you the general shape as a platform, to essentially scratch build the car. I looked at a couple of kits in the past from them and boy, am I glad that I never ordered one. I've seen what you've done with the other kit so, I know that you can rescue this kit but, that's a lot of work. You might as well have started with a lump of resin and carved it. Nice start!

Next step forward on the McLaren was done.

The mounting points for the "suspension" was completly wrong.
CMM put the point on the body. But with the tires deep into the fenders you cant put them onto the mounting plates.
So i changed the place and put them onto the chassis plate.
Now i can put the wheels onto the chassis and put the chassis under the body.
Thats fine.

Next are the rims. The outer ring is massive destroyed.Just like Mrs.Hulme was shopping with the car for a long time and found lots of curbs.

Right now i got the Lancia Beta at home on my workbench and the Ferrari 512M and the McLaren in the waiting position.
Dont know which one will be the next lunch brake project?
Maybe a new mold for the Porsche RSR Transkit or something.

You're a brave man Christian to tackle a kit such as this, to buy more, I think I move you into misguded genius category, brave sure but definitely misguided. ;):D I look forward to seeing this one & the other built though. :)

Oh yes, some kind of that for sure.

For my defense I have to say that I don't pay the price CMM is asking for the kits.

That's way too much. I told that to the owner of CMM some weeks ago and he offers me 20% off.

That's still too expensive.

Even when you're mad like me.

Hi,time to dig out the Can-Am McLaren again.

Just start again with this one and found some major shape problems.
But i decided to let it like it is.Too much work.

My interpretation of the intake trumpets.
They are not glued yet, only with some Ikea parts put into place.

3663633639353531.jpg

So i finally find a place to use that Ikea pencil for modeling.

Some plastic sheet for the inner chassis look.
Next will be the fine tuning of all open body holes.Sanding and sanding to get sharper edges.

Small update on the Mac.

6161376266376130.jpg

The rear end is done. The exhaust and the support suspension was easy to build. Also the rear wing support was made from scratch.

3237343964626238.jpg

Roll cage is made.

3135613833613435.jpg

Cockpit got some plastic sheet pieces for a realistic view.

3261626532383961.jpg

The dashboard made me a bit proud.
I used (in german we call it "Aderendhülsen") for the instruments.
I simply used a very fine saw and cut 2mm thick ring from it.Works fine and looks good.No need to use putty on the inside.

Now i only need a adjustment for the rear wheel and both mirrors.
Thats it,all is done.

This was a complete disaster.

6161653566623763.jpg

I think its something with a primer that not dry enough,a wet sanding who didn't dry long enough and too much color.
At the end it was a mess.
Now its sanded and primed again.
Only thing i now need is some more patience.

regards Christian
