Cunningham E Type complete - bye bye...

Recommended Posts

The Cunningham E Type is now all done.

Display case sorted, ready to go to its new home tomorrow.

I'll actually be sad to see this one go as I like it myself.

For a bit of fun, I've posted some kind-of similar pictures with the real car.

Don't look too closely as you'll pick up the bits on the model that aren't quite right.

Also, comparing the images does highlight elements of the bonnet in particular that aren't quite the correct shape.

I suppose scratching a new bonnet would be next when I build another E Type...

A really enjoyable build and for those who didn't follow my waffling build thread it's here if you're interested:

Many thanks all those who followed and offered comments, advice and suggestions.

All genuinely appreciated.

Right - on we go with the next one.

Roy.

"Apologies"

???

Never apologise for genius!

In the early photos the only way I could work out which was the model was to examine the size of the leaves on the ground. When you started 'shopping I just gave up.

A masterpiece and I'm looking forward to following the progress of your next project.

You guys are extremely kind.

I took the model to the new 'keeper' (sounds nicer than 'owner') on Thursday.

I'm chuffed that he was thrilled to bits with it.

He's actually having a new office built, and he's incorporating a 12" deep wall with glazed recesses, and my models ( he now has four) are going in there so they can be seen from both sides.

I have made a great point before about me NOT being some kind of 'pro' model maker. Yes, It's great to have sold some, but it will always be a hobby. I'm happy that my four large cars ( C Type, D Type, E Type and Aston DBR1) are all in the same place together and will be seen by classic car owner/collectors and racing drivers.

Anyways... currently on with the 'little' 1/12 Caterham 7, moving ahead with the 1/8 Lister Knobbly Jag, starting on the 1/8 Ferrari 250 GTO and even looking at ANOTHER 1/8 serious racing classic but won't say anything there yet in case I can't get the drawings and plans I need...

Again, many thanks all you guys.

This forum is a nice place to be.

Roy.

Beautiful work, absolutely gorgeous. No wonder the new keeper was pleased!

The only thing that really stands out to me is the roof being too narrow, the other issues are very minor. In fact they are all minor if you don't show the 2 together..as my old man used to say "a man on a flying horse wouldn't notice"

Jaw dropping.... I hate to see this model leave my possession too as if it would be better than anything I've ever built before but in your case at least you know there is more to come...

You can be rightly proud of all your builds no doubt your are looking forward to your next project... well you are not the only one, thanks for letting us come along on the journey with you
