PhantomBigStu
My halfords aluminium spray was more empty than I thought, and it came out too heavy on one wing of my P-47, obliterating the panel lines, will I be able to save it by stripping it? Foghorn Leghorn
The only thing that worked for me on Halfords primer was nail varnish remover
speedbird
Brake fluid is the only stuff that strips Halfords paint in my experience. Wrap a good layer of kitchen roll round the model, put it in a sealable bag and drench the paper towel in brake fluid. Seal the bag and leave it for a few days.. You might need to do it a couple of times and brake fluid is nasty stuff so be careful. Edited March 13, 2016 by speedbird
PhantomBigStu
Thanks mate, think I'll just order a 2nd kit, probably cheaper than the break fluid and less risk of melting oneself

speedbird
Cheap can of break fluid will set you back about a quid, wear latex gloves and think carefully where you dispose of it IE don't tip it down the drains and you'll be fine, cheaper than a new kit
Aimee'sDad
Isn't brake fluid supposed to be a lot less effective now because of legislation regarding the poisonous nature of it?. It's supposed to be more 'eco friendly ' now.

Caustic soda from local hardware shop or Ebay is the way to go, or, as somebody has mentioned IPA
speedbird
How very strange, I stripped a model only last week with brake fluid... I'd thought about caustic soda but wasn't sure it would work without harming the plastic.. Great care is needed when using that stuff cos it will really burn your skin,

However it is totally neutralised by domestic vinegar.
