Keith Wilson says its delayed. Amazon reckons mine is being delivered 17th-22nd this month. I'd like to believe that but straight from the horses mouth etc.

To anyone wondering where it is, the book should be available in August.

It always been touted on Amazon as June, today in fact. see above.

Haynes most recent catalogue actually put the date as October! Amazon probably haven't been given a new date and the date given on delivery probably comes from an algorithm somewhere!

Got mine today. Good book, some new (to me) pictures but a few mis labelled pictures and some errors with engineering info . Still worth buying though.

The fuel leak page...Keith mentions.....The leading edge tank panels aren't removed very often because it means removing the Slats. No you don't, just disconnect relevant slat torque tubes and remove and slide (more like lever with several GS screwdrivers!) the leading edge fairing off. Leaks Outbd of Rib 22 (except Rib 22-23 aft) it was the only option including access  to trailing edge leaks the under the Aileron falsework to the rear Spar. Some picture descriptions are mistaken (one is upside down another of a BAC 1-11) but I guess he had so many (1 pic to 10-15 rejected for each used) it got confusing. You're right having worked on them and Brize knowledge, it stands out and for others it wouldn't make a difference. The book sits well with and adds to the other two VC10 Hardbacks by Lance Cole and Scott Henderson.

Worth getting and.........

Soon they'll be two more...The Henderson  and in March Lance Cole VC10 sequels are published!!

Lance Cole's

[goes looking for BAC 1-11 picture]

!;)

I'm glad you've enjoyed it! Nice to see the teams caring for the surviving airframes getting good coverage. It's doing well in amazon's WW2 naval warfare sales charts too!

Ah yes, I had noticed that one. The caption didn't specifically say the photo was of a VC10 though, merely representative perhaps. :)

Could be, from that angle, the untrained eye wouldn't pick out the c/pit glass frames line up in a straight line on the bottom edges and the fwd service door is too close to the fwd freight door which point the 1-11. The nose gets distorted at that angle too.

BTW Have you got that 1-11 Classic Airliner bookazine by Key publishing?  Theres a belting mistake In that.
