pilot27uk
Hello all Just tried Zero-paints for the first time on a lotus 49. I primed with Tamia White Primer and airbrushed the green at about 20psi as suggested. The paint has now dried, but looks and feels a little rough (minus the finger print). It looks a little different to the orange peel affect. I have read somewhere that Zero Paints can sometimes dry a little rough. What I want to know is, before I apply a clear coat, is it worth giving the green coat a rub down with some wet and dry or will the clear coat disguise the rough look? Rick Brown
Is it possible the paint has dried before it hit the model? This can cause this effect. Try spraying closer. Rick.
pilot27uk
Thanks. Is it possible to sand down the paint and then re-spray? Is it supposed to dry slightly rough?
colin
Try buffing it with a soft piece of cotton clothe, you can wet sand it with fine micromesh but be careful you don't take the paint off any high spots. Not a problem if your going to respray though. As Rick says though, cellulose paints can dry before they hit the surface if too far away or too fine a needle in the airbrush Edit:They do dry to a satin finish anyway, the clear gives it the gloss, but you probably know that
GregW
I think you will find it is suppose to be like that. Zero paints are basically small amounts of full size car paint, base coat and clear lacquer. There's a very helpful tutorial here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234956647-matts-tips-for-painting-cars/ Regards Greg
