Douglas Skyraider A-1J Tamiya 1/48 + Video !

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

today I want to introduce may latest built . The model is built straight out of box and was painted with Ammo of Mig colors. The figures came from Plusmodel and Verlinden. The only thing that`s missing are the seatbelts, but I will add them soon. I try to use the HGW standart seatbelts, but they are scrap. (maybe too thick fingers?)The HGW "Lasercut" are definitly better !! Hope you don`t mind !!!

So another time I created a little video and hope you will enjoy....

All the best..

Andy

Thank you very much! If you mean the typical black streaks above the wing, I used black eye shadow, put on with a small brush. Highly recommended stuff!

The staining is done per oil dot weathering. Hope I could help.

Just another stupid question;

Is it really possible to have such a dirty aircraft?

Or if you think, the mechanics are responsible of the state of the aircraft.

Would they leave this plane in such a filthy state?

I don't think so, because those mechanics would have been fired, or sacked

only for leaving an aircraft in such an ugly state.

What do you think?

Please let me know.

Yes I am with you Polo,

But in this case the Skyraider had the nickname, " the flying oil Barrel" due to the extremly oiling engine . So if you google you will see a lot of pic's where these planes arme looking quite dirty. Normally not my taste, but in this case it is an exception.

All the best

Hey Andy, that's another great build. It is hard to believe that the prototypes of this warbird were up in the air immediately after the end of WWII. Just think ... they could carry a bigger payload than a B-17 while being flown by one pilot and they were faster and more maneuverable ... by a long shot ... A friend of mine was a river rat over in Viet Nam and they were in trouble. They called in an air strike and the Skyraiders got their rear ends out of trouble. He really admires that aircraft ... even to this day. Thanks for posting. Bob H.
