IgorS
Ok, guys! Here we go. My first WIP on Britmodeller, that I would like to share. This project will be my second T-90, first one (you can see it here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234981484-zvezda-135-t-90/)was sold, so I need new tank for a hobby exhibition in Moscow. I'm going to paint this one in one-colour camouflage to put it near my T-14 Armata (here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234994262-takom-135-t-14-armata/) on the shelve. I will build it, the way I like - for my own pleasure, out of the box, using a little bit of after-market parts. Any comments and questions are welcomed! I'll try to answer them ASAP. Housesparrow
They started selling Zvezda kits in my local hobby shop. Not familiar with this kit, so I am wondering if you think the sprues look ok with the box you have.
IgorS
Housesparrow, I really liked this kit, when I was making it (about 2 years ago). There were no real troubles with plastic and sprues, that I remember. I can make some shots of details, if you want.
IgorS
Ok. A little update. Plastic and its quality are worse, than the last time, I've built this kit.... Edited February 18, 2016 by IgorS
Andy Moore
Shame about the flash. Has it affected the parts, or is it mainly on the sprues? I've been thinking about getting one of these. I'll follow your build with interest. Andy
Housesparrow
I guess this looks ok to be honest.
IgorS
Andy, thank you! The flash doesn't affect details much, but there's some of it. But modelling knife helps a lot. Housesparrow, it looks nice, but some points of view and lighting reveal the lines of molds. But there's nothing I cannot deal with for now. I've decided to cut some of the outer fuel tanks holders (I don't want to put them on this particular model), and made some progress:
John_W
I built the Trumpeter cast turret version and all those bolt heads in the armour were PE. Took forever. This one looks easier.
IgorS
This one looks easier. It is indeed easier. Question is, what is more fun to build? And if you like to do all those PE, than why not! I prefer this kit. But, I want to try that Trumpeter kit as well. So, we will see.
IgorS
This is what I've managed to complete today: I hope tomorrow to complete bottom half of the body and start painting the wheels... We will see.
John_W
I made a circular stencil out of thin plastic card to spray the wheels. Wasn't perfect but only needed the tyres touching upnin a few spots.
IgorS
John, I always paint the wheels like you said. I'm using old business cards for this stencils. Also, I want to build tracks and prepare them for painting. I will try to use the painting order, I used for Armata.
IgorS
Sadly, wasn't able to start painting today... but I have some progress: I love the details of this kit! It looks very realistic and still it is fun to assemble and it is very easy. But it has some minor troubles with fitting.... I'll have to fix halves of the hull, when I'll glue them..... Andy Moore
It's shaping up really well now. There's some lovely detailing on the hull Andy
IgorS
Andy, the detailing of this kit is simply amazing! And without all those PE parts it is also easy and fast to assemble. And I cannot say that without PE it is less detailed than Trumpeter kit, if you look at it without Micro lens ))) Started painting process. Colour looks very dark, but this parts of the tank are going to be in shadow.
IgorS
A little update.
Housesparrow
How did you manage to let the tracks rest this nicely on the top side?
IgorS
Housesparrow, well, that's where I love this kit most. It comes with partially assembled tracks. Top half has some curvature, like it is done in some Tamiya's kits. I have new progress. Now I need to lay masks on bottom half and after placing some details I will be ready to paint this tank.

IgorS
Ok. So this is the beginning of the painting process. Now it is a long way to make this piece of plastic an art.
IgorS
I'm about half way through weathering process: Now, it is time to wait till all the layers will dry and take a look on the result, I think I shall add some light dust.... Any comments are welcomed!

Andy Moore
That's looking fantastic Igor. I like the way you've chipped the side skirts to show the rubber Andy
IgorS
Andy, I like them too, I think I'll add a few more...
IgorS
Ok, I think that this is almost final look of the weathering: I think, that tracks come out too bright, but I've already corrected that. Now, I need to finish all the work with antenna and AA machine gun (known as "Kord"). But next week is really busy, so if I wouldn't be able to complete this tank tomorrow, I'll have to wait till next weekend to complete the model.
