BTW the blower was cast not machined and therefore a very dull finish, not at all glossy......a more satin finish would (I think) look better....

Hi Ian,if you look you`ll find the block is a satin finish?

Thanks.

I'm going to chime in here and suggest that example (though a famous car) is not representative of the supercharger finish. The end casting is darker/duller than most; though there are a couple of similar examples around.

Maybe it's the pic, it looks a lot shinier. The pic I posted is actually a museum piece now and a lot more polished than all the others I've seen, which are much flatter in appearance.

Hi,

I'm following this thread closely as i intend to start on mine sometime in April once i get the 806 out of the way.

May i know how you modified the dampers?

I ordered the Mefistofele damper sprue from Italeri. Cost me around 7 Euros shipped, so i figured what the heck, might as well give it a try. Might need some modification to fit the Bentley, but even so, will look better than the kit's original part.

Regards,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, I used a mini router in my Dremel grind the excess plastic away, although you could use a small file?

I drew the shape onto some .010" plasticard and cut it out to fit. I then copied it then cut out with a scalpel.

They were glued in wit CA.Its easy really!!

ps Ive just finished the Fiat, great kit!!

If you're interested in replacement dampers, I have designed some and had them 3d printed. I have yet to fit them to my build but I could make them available through Shapeways. See my build thread for pics of the items. They're not cheap, at over USD7 per damper plus postage, but they are a huge improvement! PM me if you're interested.

All done! They are now available on Shapeways:

I know they're a little expensive...believe me, I'm making next to nothing on them. I'm making them available simply because I've had such great feedback, and I know they are needed. I hope you like them!

In case you're still interested, I have added a 6 piece set of the shocks to my Shapeways store which reduces the cost by about half!

Looking forward to your next update!

Well, its on its wheels now. I think a may double the rad mesh as it looks a bit `see through`? Opinions please?

Difficult to tell until the radiator is in place behind the grille. I would expect to be able to see the radiator through the grille but not the fan through the radiator if that makes any sense.

Looks fantastic! Agree with the rad mesh. From memory the mesh was just a gravel guard. The rad matrix was behind it.

Yeh,I think thats what Im going to do?

Thanks for the kind comment.

The radiator is a separate 2 pieces which fit behind the grill. You'll need to shorten the pins that fit the 2 parts together as the kit is designed to have the radiator up flush against the surround, where you have fitted the mesh.

Looking good though!

Great work, it looks a lovely kit. I do plan to do get this at some point. Especially as I had a high speed passenger ride around Goodwood circuit in this very one last week.......

Lespaul, looking fabulous

Mine is on the shelf waiting for me to finish the Mefisto.

However, i am joyfully gathering pictures and choosing colors. Got the wired wheels.

Probably i'll opt for a much darker green than the one you chose, almost black, but i may be wrong.

Paul_c ; do you have more pics posted somewhere ? is this the lightweight, restored without the leather covered body at the back ? i heard one has been restored in such configuration.

cheers
