Paiting Mila Again

When I did the Sci-Fi GB I manged to build and finish a 2nd model of Mila Kusanagi Firereach Commander. This one her is the first model that I had, the reason she got abandoned was that I had real issues with pint coming off. So I stuck her to one side for a while and now I have returned to have another go.

She has been thoroughly cleaned and polished plus I found a video which a chap using Vallejo paints so using that as a guide I thinned to Grey Primer and have no managed to get a thin paint layer on :analintruder:

As seen in this image (yes I know the head is slightly out of focus, just adds to the tale.

In is build I am going to be using mainly the colours from this Vallejo set

For the skin and hair I will use something more appropriate and so far I have managed to add a couple of coats of the Cold Grey paint to the none armor bits

I will probably add another coat of the grey now I have worked out how to get a thin paint layer on. Was going to try and use an airbrush but don't think my skills are quite up to it.

Hi One Hit yes I am using Vallejo primer and all the paints on this are by them.

Bit of an update, images could be better but anyway.

These two show that I have now added a Heavy Brown plus a Night Blue into the mix, the brown there is three coats and I need to add another one or two blue to the armour

Face Basic Skin Tone this time a mix of brush and airbrushed on again two or three thin coats

Weapon done with dark grey and the same blue as the armour above, needs more coats.

Plus tonight I have found out I do not have a very steady hand.

Update

Things not going well

P2100009_zpsma2195jb.jpg

P2100007_zpsp1iirm7p.jpg

You might notice that the suite is a darker grey. Well I had the Ghost Grey colour on and decided that I would use my brush "skills" :fool: to add highlights using a lighter grey, after I finished it looked fine............from about 2 meters away but up close it looked like I had used a 10cm brush to do it

So out with some other grey paint I had and now she looks like the above, I have tried to add some shading to the creases etc but even in the window light of home it just looks like a dark grey blob.

I am at the moment seriously thinking about stripping all the paint off and going with an all over blue colour scheme.

Thanks bzn

Yeah I was messing around with photobucket and failed to realise that the images were actually linked :banghead: when I deleted them.

I'll sort it out tonight and hopefully stick more images up AS everything has changed again and she is back in primer with a very dark blue colour on her at the moment.

GRRR!! seems I have mislaid some of the images from the opening threads.

Anyway

Here is where she is now

Face is still the same, basic skin tone added with mix of hairy stick and airbrush, I find this colour so hard to to get a nice layer on using hairy sticks

I think I am going to try the gold NNM colours again but across the visor/head scarf/ bandanna/ tech things she is wearing on top of the head.

Body and weapon look like

DSC00629_zpsepgxcldo.jpg

She had several coats of black primer on all of her (except the head) then with the airbrush held nearly 90 degrees above her a couple of thin coats of grey primer done to show where some of the high lights might go.

Now she has had at least 5 or 6 thin coats of Dark Prussian Blue as a starting base.

Things may go better from here :analintruder:

An update

I have been painting Mila over the past while but not spent as much time as I wanted.

So several colours of blue and the highlights on the edges have been done with Water Coluored Pencil, which sort of worked but after seeing these images I am going to rework it a little bit.

The face has been done using an Airbrush plus a mix of flesh paints.

still a little way to go but I am going to try and finish her this week.
