Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter, 1:48, Roden kit, w. some photo etch

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd just try present this model the best I can, and leave the knowledge of its quriks to my WIP thread here.

I learned a few things during this project, so I'm happy. :)

The paint scheme is "Reece Flight, Australian, later 1st Aviation Regiment, Army Air Force, Vietnam, 1969", according to Roden.

It looks great finished but should really be in the RFI section. Maybe ask one of the mods to move it.

Oh. Heh, I was in a hurry, too busy uploading the images to noticed I made this thread at the wrong place. :|

Note: I reported my own thread just now and hopefully a moderator will move it for me.

I want to comment on my own photos. :)

As I was taking photos with my compact camera mounted on a tripod, at some point I thought I should try concentrate on angles that best shows off the shapes of the aircraft, so that the angles weren't random. I had noticed previously that a side view was looking great so I made sure to take a photo from that angle. I did have some difficulty in getting a proper focus on the model, so some of the images could have been more sharp I think. I am still not sure what went wrong. Still learning with my new cheap digital camera. Another important aspect here, was to try take photos either from a human perspective, or, some bird perspective, but ideally nothing in between. I also took a photo from "frog" perspective but somehow it didn't end up being in my thread, don't remember why not.

I also made sure to take some close ups, not really for showing details, but to hide parts of the aircraft, to make the rest of it look fresh and interesting. This is a "technique" used in film and comics.

Good job,...you`ve made a beautiful model of an ugly brutish looking aircraft which has a dear place in my heart as it was the first type that I flew in and also parachuted from,......I like the Aussie scheme too,........ well done,

Cheers

Tony
