shood23
Hi do I Di this from time to time of starting multiple kits and taking for ever on them but this isn't going to be that. My plan for this is simple it's is tamiyas red bull rb6 with the s27 toro rosso decals no frills just nice curbside display of the junior red bull car The kit The decals And what I have done so far One of the big differences between the str5 and rb6 was that toro rosso didn't run the f-duct system until the final few rounds and even then it was massively different to redbulls so I have sliced off the redbull version and just intend to replace it with a simple shark fin cover, this proved a little tricky getting it all to line up correctly so it has been made in to bits and will now be stuck together and filled to remover the join That's all I have for now but this one will be moving quite fast Also just to say I may adapt the post in the near future after purchasing another rb6 kit from a member on here Shaun
shood23
Right so this hasn't moved forward as far along as I would have liked by now bit here's where I am I have made up the new rear end, filled and primed to see any little imperfections and to see the flow of the curves also in the pictures are a normal rb6 rear end to compare the differences More to come soon Shaun
shood23
A little more done to this build The front part of the body has been put together, filled and dark primed to check the joins out, a little bit yo much was taken off the shark fin on the engine cover so a little more filling needed there aswell. But it's now ready for final priming and then some colour The nose has been started and unlike the late season redbull which in the tamiya kit the camera pods in the nose tip are wrong for the toro rosso they never moved them from this position the whole season And the zero paints have arrived but having already made the redbull with zero paints and with the picture below especially the paint that hiro boy do for red bull and toro rosso isn't right for this car it needs to be darker So I took an old redbull match paint I had and added a little black to it, zero bottles are 60ml so I added the equivalent of 5ml to 60ml and it's turned out much closer, the lighter one is standard paint with only one quick coat whereas the darker one has the black added and is 2 coats So now I'm off to prime all the bits and get this build moving Shaun

shood23
Thanks Flemming So not much done due to the poor weather conditions at the moment ( and the fact the roof in the room I paint and dry things in has sprung a leak and I don't know how zero paint take to drying in a humid environment) things have stalled some what until I can get on the roof to see what the issue is or is stops bloomin raining. Until then I did manage to get a few very light coats of gloss coats on but I would be happy with a slightly heavier coat before decals In the flesh the colour isn't as dark as it has come out in the picture, it has more of a dark blue/purple hue to it and from the reference I have is pretty close to the real thing. Thanks for looking Shaun
Hugh Jampton
Shaun Looking good, up to your usual standards as usual. Regards John
shood23
Thanks John for the kind words but I think the kits these days make some (like me) look better than they should. Shaun
shood23
More on this Not the best picture but the body has been clear coated The nose has had the decals started It's the same with the rear wing I am in the process of doing the big bull on the engine cover and rear part of the monocoque but it's proving to need an awful lot of Microsol due to all the curves it need to go round More soon Shaun
shood23
A lot more done today but it's all the same really The decal work through the stages of the day is now almost done The front wing endplates were finished very quickly due to there only being 2 decals for both Front wing again has very few decals Nose is finished And all the big major decals were put on the body. The bull took so much microsol to get it down properly I made sure it all comes apart Trying to match one side to the over was quite a challenge And now all the decals for the engine cover are done The monocoque is fully done now aswell And Lastly I made a start on the upper parts of the front wing which have been a pain due to hot having the same cuts in them as the tamiya decals Thanks for looking Shaun
Hamden
Looking like another show stopper in the making Stunning work on those decals! Roger
shood23
Thanks Roger the decals are very good just the bigger ones are a bit of a pain over modern f1 shapes, it's no wonder why toro rosso paint their designs on the cars now. So what parts I could finish have been finished, just the tuning vanes for the side pods need the number decals and the wheel rims need some aswell A few more days now after a clear coat to seal them and I should be able to start assembly of the suspension parts and floor parts Shaun
shood23
I have been able to gloss coat the body over the last few days, maybe one more coat then it's done More soon Shaun
shood23
So assembly has commenced The rear wing has been started And I couldn't resist a mock up with the engine cover More soon Shaun
shood23
Moving forward with this now Unpicked until now I have made the floor pan and most of the rear end up The radiator has been made up. Originally I wasn't going to make this able to see under the skin but the engine fit under the modded engine cover is good so it will have a basic engine bay Seat has been glued in. Not sure why the dark patches are there my best guess is lighting Body and engine have been glued and screwed to the floor. I have added some role foil for the heat shield Nose cone and rear hubs have been added Close up of the nose And lastly I have added a seat belt More soon Shaun

shood23
Thanks mickd So a little more has been done. Rims have been painted the same blue as the car but with one more coat to darken it slightly and a gold ring painted round the edge Added the tyres and mocked up on the car but I'm now in a bit of a mood as I can't find the tyre decals anywhere so I'm a bit stuck as what to do apart from buying some new ones More soon Shaun
Hamden
That really looks the part Sorry to hear about the wheel/tyre decals I'm sure they'll turn up! Roger

shood23
So the new tyre decals turned up yesterday which means this will be my last post on the building of this car. Thanks to all of those who commented or even just looked in. Decals where going on quite nice even though they look a little under scale. Scrubbed vs box stock And it's done Thanks again to everyone who got involved Shaun
