albymoore
Hi All, This is my 1/72 Tamiya F-51D Mustang built as an Israeli Air Force P-51D circa 1956's Operation 'Kadesh' (aka the Suez Crisis). This was built OOB, and was painted with Vallejo and Model Master paints. The markings are from Sky Decals 'IAF First Fighters' set. The weathering was done with a combination of pastels and Testors CreateFX panel washes. Thanks for looking!

pinky coffeeboat
I've got to agree with your thread title (please someone tell me there's more models than just WW2 stuff being built, lol and...yawn!!) but your Mustang is very nicely done. Stew Dapple
I like that Alby, funny how much different a Mustang looks in camo Cheers, Stew
noelh
Nice job. Yes another P51, maybe, but I wonder if threads featuring the old reliables get more hits than those featuring something like the Polkarski PK3 monoplane bomber, 3 of which saw service with the Ruritanian air service in 1924. I know which I'd be looking at. I impulsively view anything featuring WW2 fighters.
albymoore
Thanks for the kudos, gang. It was nice building something a little out of my normal era of modeling (modern jets and helicopters), plus something different in regards to markings and paint scheme on a popular subject. I have another Israeli Mustang on my bench, though this one will be in the normal metal finish. Cheers, Albert
Spitfire31
Very effective rendering of a livery separating it from hackneyed (?) 8th AF NMF birds. Very good modelling. Kind regards, Joachim
azureglo
A fine filly if I may add my 9,99 cents. Excellent paint work and build. Having just posted my all yellow Reno bird, I salute the non NMF Mustangs of the world. Anil

Knight_Flyer
One of the issues with the hobby today is the never ending flood of Mustangs... only joking, very nice build and I like the camo scheme. Haven't seen a P-51 in IAF markings for quite a while.

albymoore
Thanks for the kind comments, gang. I've always had a fascination with mainstream aircraft in odd clothing , so to speak. I also want to build one of those Latin America Mustangs such as this-
