Andy Moore
Thanks everyone Lovely work, look forward to the rest of the series. Will you be doing an NZLAV?Will Thanks Will. I will do a LAV at some point. A NZ one would be nice, do Trumpeter do one with appropriate spec and markings?
Will Vale
Not exactly - they do a LAV III which I bought in Auckland on the basis that it looked cool, and had a sticker on saying "NZ version!!!" But my friend who was heavily involved in the NZLAV acquisition said that it's wrong. From memory the basics are OK, but when the LAVs are used at home (e.g. after the Christchurch quakes, or on exercises) they don't have the armour kit fitted. As that's moulded into the hull you're a bit stuck. You can do one in service in Afghanistan, but then you need some add-ons like the armoured glazing around the turret, anti-IED antennae, etc. It does look damn cool as you can see from this: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee307/nzgunnie/Untitled.jpg And possibly even better with the earth-moving blade (this is without the armour kit) http://www.panoramio.com/photo/117349289 I think the deployed version wouldn't use the cool little glazed driver's cupola which is a shame. The exhaust is also wrong, it's more like the Stryker exhaust IIRC. I have some bits of aftermarket for mine with the idea of cobbling something together but it's all in the cupboard at the moment. Cheers, Will
