Badder
By no means the most brilliant figures of all time, but pretty close to the worst. [/url] Either the gunner, pictured top right, is a GIANT, or the driver top left is a 'person of diminutive stature'. I wonder how these people did a number two? Badder
So, I've constructed the figures, minus the driver's right arm and the radio operator's right hand. The driver's hand has to be positioned on the steering wheel, so I didn't want to commit to fixing his arm in position until the last moment. And obviously the radio operator's right hand will be up to his face holding the mic, so it would restrict the painting of his face if I were to fix that in position now. I also haven't added the helmets for the same reason. Just a bit of cleaning up to do and then I will be spraying the figures with a base coat of flat white acrylic.
Badder
Pretty self explanatory really... so I won't bother other than to say that the colour was flat earth. No, no, it's round I tell you, round!
Badder
The plasticine is quite easy to use as a masking medium. It's probably best when the gas central heating isn't on, as it gets just a little on the soft side. Nevertheless It comes off easily as well, though again, because it's on the soft side, tiny bits remained behind and had to be brushed off. The resulting paint-job, whilst no more accurate than a really good brush application, was a LOT quicker and obviously the finish much better. Badder
Using the same masking method shown above, I have given the figures base coats of flesh for their hands and faces. As the figures will be 'deep-seated' in the carrier, their feet aren't so important, so I've just brush painted boots and gaiters. Next an all over coat of gloss varnish.
