Aftermarket decals for 1/700 HMS Invincible?

Recommended Posts

Evening all,

I picked up the 25th Anniversary edition of Dragon's 1/700 HMS Invincible at a swap meet this weekend; this may be my first ship build since the 80's. The kit's decent overall but wow! Those raised lines on the deck are...very retro! I know I could mask and paint all of the stripes when it's time to do so, but aftermarket decals would sure be great.

Can anyone point me toward a set that could at least complete the skimpy kit decals? - I'm looking for the 1982 time period, of course - Even a generic set would help. Maybe this will convince me to move up to 1/350th where my choices look a bit more varied.

Thanks,

Paolo

It's something these models are needing and it's why l have never built these ships in 1/700 .l have built the Airfix 1/350 and it would great if these decals were available in 1/700.

I have a Revel version of Invincible in my stash. It is my intention of getting hold of a generic decal sheet of white fine lines for doing the Flightdeck. I have seen these around, I have found some on Hannants website https://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?setPerPage=25&product_type_id=1855&product_category_id=102&search_direction=asc&pageID=4.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was sure it would be more work than some other kits, but then that's real modeling right?

Paul E.: I have quite the stash of white and yellow stripe decals from railroad models, so that's an idea. I foresee lots of straightedge use in my future...
