The big questions are; Should I build it sans paint since the box claims "no painting is necessary"? And should I build it as an Army helicopter or a Navy one?

More to follow over...

Cheers,

Daniel.

Hello Daniel, how about as Matchbox intended, straight out of the box without painting in Royal Navy colours. Joe

Hi Joe,

So you don't think the pilots would look fetching in red flight suits as per the instructions?

Anyway I am not averse to doing that since a lot of my Matchbox builds (when the plastic is good) are unpainted. That said it will require some polishing to fix the plastic, which has a lot of scratches in various places.

Cheers,

Daniel.

I really liked the early Lynx before they started spoiling the looks by adding various bumps, bulges and berb blades. Will be following this build with interest.

Hi All,

Thanks for your suggestions and the trend towards the Navy version, anyway considering all suggestions and my own thoughts on this I have decided to build it as the Naval Anti-submarine strike version and I will be painting it.

Cheers,

Daniel.

P.S. Has anyone got any thoughts on alternative and available colours that are appropriate for this airframe in lieu of using Humbrol Authentic Colours HB9 Sea Blue Gloss as recommended by the instructions? I was thinking Gunze's lacquer based Mr.Color 365 FS15024 Gross Seablue (sic) might be okay as an alternative.

Early Lynxes were painted in Oxford Blue, I don't know of any acrylic paint matched to this colour. Possible equivalents were discussed here in the past, for example in this thread

There's a Humbrol Acrylic matt Oxford Blue, number 104

Thanks All,

I didn't know the Lynx was painted Oxford Blue anyway now that I know and since I already have it, I will be using White Ensign Models Colourcoats WEMCC ACRN32 Oxford Blue BS 105 enamel paint.

Cheers,

Daniel.

P.S. I will be using the display stand!
