Bandai 1:12 R5-D4

Recommended Posts

I really love these Bandai kits.. I cannot wait to start on the Y-wing I have in the stash..

Meanwhile, here's R5 in a nice, grimy guise. They go together so quickly.. This took me two days from start to finish.. He's been painted in a combination of Vallejo, Revell and Tamiya acrylics, then weathered with Tamiya acrylics and Citadel and AK washes..

did you paint all of the kit or just some of the parts? i'm thinking it would be hard to paint the red and blue sections once the kit has been assembled... or did you paint all the parts while they were on the sprues and then assemble the kit?

I painted the parts on the sprues prior to assembly. It lends itself very well to that. There were a few decals that needed placing, but overall there was zero masking involved, which is nice.
