Starfighter
Hi everyone, I'm asking for some advice on behalf of my best mate regarding wooden decks. He recently completed the Trumpeter 1/200 bismarck, and used wooden decks ( Artwox, I believe ) which look stunning, as does his model. However, he's noticed that the deck has lifted very slightly in one or two areas, possibly due to temperature changes, and has asked my advice on possible ways to alleviate this problem. I've not used these decks before, although I have a set for my 1/350 HMS Belfast, so If anyone can provide any info on how to remedy this problem my mate ( And me ! ) would be eternally grateful. Jamie @ Sovereign Hobbies
I've had this. Firstly, I resolved it with CA and a syringe. I found it helpful to slice between the planks of the swollen area which made things easier to flatten down. I avoided the problem since by glossing the plastic before sticking the deck down. I've only had problems lifting when the deck was stuck to matt overspray which the adhesive struggled to tack to. Hope this helps!
