Hindenburg - "oh, the humanity!"

Recommended Posts

Another older project. After destroying the Titanic (photos in the Maritime thread) I went off the deep end and decided to have a go at another 20th century disaster. And this was going to be REALLY ambitious because it would involve lighting and mimicking fire. It mostly worked.

It's a Revell kit, hacked up and fitted with wire mesh to represent the burned-up part of the ship, and the smoke is just cotton. The photos don't show it well, but there are two flashing LEDs in the aft smoke to represent fire (my first try at lighting). Far from a contest winner, but it was fun, unique and makes for a good conversation starter. And goes well with the first Led Zeppelin album.

That's very cool and very well done too.

By the way, have you heard the commentary with the original voice? It's way more James Earl Jones than the fairly high-pitched one you are probably familiar with. Turns out the recorder from the guy was turning slow.
