eddiesolo
This was a commision build that the buyer failed to pay. It is the second sunken submarine I have made, the first a few years ago. I decided to keep this one and sold the first. It is 1/125 scale. The plaque reads: U-BOAT POEMINTO THE DEPTHS WE VALIANTLY GO,DOWNWARDS INTO THE INKY GLOOM.TOUCHING BOTTOM WE COME TO REST,TO SLEEP FOREVER IN OUR IRON TOMB. Si:)

Nomore Shelfspace
Extraordinary finish - needs a diorama! (or is that "suborama"?)

eddiesolo
That looks very good Si. Great weathering effect. Joe. Thanks Joe, I use a fine sand scree mix that is added to the model then it is airbrushed, sponged and rusted using pigments. Extraordinary finish - needs a diorama! (or is that "suborama"?) The previous model was placed on a sanded base but the guy that wanted this one wanted it upright, of course we know that a WWII sub would lay Port or Starboard on the seabed. I made a hardwood base and then added the plaque. He then messed about regarding price so I told him to...er, well, go away. Great idea, cracking model! Cheers mate, appreciate the comment.
Ravens
Love the deteriorated appearance of the model, and the poem is very poignant. Ross.

Orion
Excellent done. It is the place were most of them ended up. It looks very real. For you U-boat builders two interesting books: 1. Swastika's in the Arctic 2.U-Boats of the second world war. Their longest voyages. Both books are by Jak.P. Mallmann Showell

eddiesolo
They would do nice at the bottom of a fish tank. Looks totally real I was asked if I could do one for a fish tank. The problem is making it using non toxic paints, glues that will stay intact, hence I never bothered. Glad you like it though.

eddiesolo
Fantastic, both of them and the poem on the first adds that little bit extra... Cheers Vince, I made the poem up as the original client wanted something on a plaque and not the sub type etc. The seabase wreck looks spot on you really have got the rusting down to a fine art look forward to seeing more of your builds. Beefy Most kind to say, I love doing knackered, ask me to do a nice build and I'm stumped OUTSTANDING workmanship. . loved the weathering etc.. nice little ditty too. Many thanks for the kind words, really pleased you enjoyed looking at my work. Impressive stuff. Thanking you, glad you like it. superb weathering - it shames Pets at Home's fish tank alternative ! - Seriously though - very jealous my skills don't scope that far. To do this is easy compared to doing a smart model, hence why mine are all kaput lol.
