At long last, some decent progress!

Still some parts to add to the engine, but it looks good so far:

Not quite a showroom mirror shine from the Alclad Aqua Gloss, but I dare not risk polishing it any further in case I start to eat into the underlying paintwork:

Applying some bare metal foil. I think I'll seal it afterwards with a coat of alclad aqua gloss:

Fiddly work!

At last, this kit seems to be progressing nicely!

I wonder if I can get it finished before the end of 2016?

Oh my eyes!!

That's enough bare metal foiling for this evening. Just the windscreen surround to do. Unfortunately I'v scratched some of the yellow paint work while cutting the bare metal foil. Not too noticeable though.

I take it I should apply a gloss coat to seal the foil in place?

But I'm glad the kit is finally coming along nicely!

After all the problems it's very good to see that at last it's coming together, and in a beautiful way as well.

I have never used a clear coat or anything to secure BMF after it's applied, and I've never had problems. I have +20 year old models with BMF looking as good as they did when built. If the surface was clean and reasonably smooth when applied I don't think you will have a problem. The only problems I've ever had with BMF is occasional sheets some years ago that didn't stick well at all, but that was evident already upon application.

Slow progress. Bare Metal Foil is somewhat fiddly!

But looks good though:

There seems to be a slight difference in the shade of yellow on the bodywork, and on the bonnet. This is despite priming using the same primer, and same undercoats.  Not too noticeable, and I've gone too far along with this build to strip it again!  So it'll do.

A minor update. Still slow progress, but getting near the end now! I've given the kit chrome "spoked wheels" an enamel paint wash, to highlight the spokes.  Looks not too bad from a distance!
