alpine_modeller
Excellent news. Seems like almost all of 2010 SDSR is being reversed at least partially. Wondering if we have enough air bases still.

Albeback52
Leuchars reopened? As the OP says, a bit of common sense at last. This will give the RAF a very flexible range of capabilities. All we need now is for the powers that be to admit they made a mistake......and resign! Allan

12jaguar
Couldn't be happier, the J is now retiring beyond the date originally planned (2035 vs 2030), so under current plans should see me to retirement John

junglierating
This is good news intact I don't think "transport command" has had so good .C17,grizzleys,fat Albert, voyager and a couple of 146's Now just need a sealing mk4 upgrade and salvage as many as possible from the knackers yard and we are laughing kitbags! Radpoe Spitfire
Methinks the government have realised that the cuts to the defence budget were both irresponsible and short sighted given the present world climate. Tis a shame they had a rethink after scrapping the Harrier and Nimrod.
raptormodeller
I want to see a chally 3. With upgraded dorchester armour. BAE, get to work! The americans are catching woth armour. (Didn't we invent chobham)

John B (Sc)
Will the Chally 3 fly? Nigel With a big enough bang underneath it, yes... Or, given some of the enthusiastic tank driving I have seen, if it goes over a properly shaped hump flat out, yes but briefly ?

As much as I love the Mk4, they're completely knackered, and would need one hell of an upgrade/rebuild. I joined 707, then 846 when they were still new and that was 30 years ago, 845 we still using Wessex 5's
Nigel Foster60
Lets face it egg beaters are scary things at the best of times. I know when I was offered rides back in the 70's and 80's I always had a quiet pray. Whilst I have a soft spot for the SeaKing in all its manifestations I would not be keen to fly in one again. They are a 1960's design. Time they respectful retire I think. Nigel
