Pete in Lincs
Barking! Like it. Can't afford a 911? Go for the cheaper 912 (if you can still find one) and see what you can do to upgrade that engine.

A5h
This is awesome, not seen these before but have one of the egg planes because its different, going to look out for these in the future
caterhamnut
Yep - I think I have all the egg planes - gonna do a similar thing to the Blackbird version - or at least try and make it look 'real' and photoshop it into real pictures - that's the plan anyway
FG2Si
There is also an F40 in the series and it has a full interior and even a partial engine. I'll try to dig out my built one if anyone's interested. Carl

caterhamnut
Was going to replicate all the exhausts - but simply no space, and in fact they would be too low down in reality, so just the visible bits!! Basic colours being added only at this point - has come out well I think.... Stripped chrome of the wheels - they were solid, but I have cut out the spokes - nightmare job as a) very small and the nylon-type plastic just gets 'fluffy' - really hard to cut and smooth cleanly when you can't get in there - was thinking of doing the disc brakes, but you really wouldn't see them.... Small cut in the 'gearbox' is for some chassis detail - rear suspension carrier etc Edited December 7, 2015 by caterhamnut
caterhamnut
Some made-up chassis vaguely based on reality! Starting on the wiring and plumbing.... It is roughly based on reality, but I am limited somewhat by clearance issues when the rear bodywork is added - it is very very tight as you might imagine, and I can't really go above the profile of the 'front' bulkhead (behind the cockpit) Tweaked some colour a bit -
caterhamnut
Actually maybe I shouldn't worry about clearance and display with the rear body off... This is a 'practice' anyway - maybe I'll save the higher level of detail for the Mazda 787 or Porsche 962....
caterhamnut
Body not painted yet - although it looks like 'race dirt' in this shot! (it's over-spray)

TGA
This is really nice and funny. You are taking the egg car places it was never envisioned to go. Excellent.
FG2Si
It took a while but here are some crummy shots of the F40. I should have checked them before I put it back. I built it probably about 20 years ago. The paint was to match the Tamiya one I did earlier. And here's one that will be familiar: I also have a Countach, 959, and KITT somewhere. imster
This is inspirational work Caterhamnut! I am so tempted to get a few of these after seeing this build

caterhamnut
Thanks Carl - great to see! Haven't seen the F40 anywhere else. I really want the 959 and the 6 Series BMW they did - but not seen them. Maybe a 959 for ridiculous price. The LeMans-type cars are out there for less than $20, and the Nissan GTR's and similar cheaper still. That Jaaaag looks nicely 'period' Started as just a bit of fun, but I really like the idea of doing something different - I have all these 'normal' F1 kits to build, but it is daunting when you see the quality of the builds on here! Fine line between 'inspiring' and 'daunting' I guess I have plans to dissect Matchbox/Hotwheels sized car next - although I really need to get on with that 1/12 Caterham.... caterhamnut
I did build this Williams recently, similar style - and have a few of these, so may try doing a similar thing to this type as well....
caterhamnut
Body work now...sprayed white, ready for decals... Of course rather than use the decals, I will make the rear light clusters from clear plastic. Rear wing assembly still to come.... A1C3
Hi, This is mental, never knew these egg cars existed. The engine bay work is phenomenal, great skill and style, keep it up!
caterhamnut
cheers! Coming along... Will have some touching up to do - these decals are very brittle...
caterhamnut
At last a tiny bit of time!! Tried my new toy, and cut a few things!! Decided the rear wing looked a bit thick.... So trimmed it a little: Also used new toy to cut out some wing supports - two pieces of styrene sheet stuck together... Not in correct place - it will be lower:
